Blu-ray/PS3 Question?

My son has a PS3 and it plays Blu -ray.I guess that one of the features. Now I go to red box often and they will have a movie we want available in blu-ray not dvd .I never get it.Why because we don't know if you need a certain T.V to use the blu-ray feature?Like flat screen or HDTV?My son has a 27-inch

Toshiba picture tube color TV.Fully loaded though connected to it is a VCR/DVD combo PS3 slim online access ,

Xbox 360 Premium System/Pro No longer available with a Xbox 360 Hard Drive 20 GB a

fully paid xbox live gold online till march 2012 yes 2012 a new Kinect

access to a PsP and the New DS 3D if needed to hook up and will be picking up a DVR from verizon on Thursday.Full cable and internet access in his room. so with that said do we need a special TV? I don't know if my modem that connects the internet /cable T.V is wireless. It has a antenna and has a fiber optic plug in but not coaxial.

Thank you G'sMom

For all the devices you mentioned, you don't need any special TV to use them. However, the resolution of your 27 inch tube TV cannot take advantage of Blu-ray movies, PS3, DVR and Xbox 360.

Tube TV's are still one of the best in my opinion. Nothing can match it's response time, color rendition and long, long service life. In fact, tube PC monitors are now being taken out of the closet for 3D applications with glasses; flat panel monitor have too slow of a response time (in milliseconds).

You should check out someone that has a flat-panel setup with Blu-ray movies, PS3, DVR and Xbox 360 movie playing and see if it's better. If you don't feel it's that much better, don't upgrade your TV. Despite what others tell you, there are trade offs to going with a new TV. Like the old saying goes, "if you're happy, you're happy".
