What should I do w/ the political party in the Voter Registration Form (C.A)?

This is the first time I vote. I'm not registered with any political party, however, I am a big fan of the G.O.P and I want to be a Republican, but when I read the directions in the Voter Registration Form, it said

"No person shall be entitled to vote the ballot of any political party unless he/she has registered with that party. However, if a voter has declined to state a political party affiliation, and the political party permits it, the unaffiliated voter may vote in the party's primary election."

I don't understand it, what should I do? And if I have to registered with the Republican Party how can I do that?

Please help me if you know the answer, I don't want any hate comments here

if you want to vote in a party's primary. you have to register to that party, but only to vote in the primary. the regular election you can vote for anyone. once you put the registration in your all set. just check off Republican, it's a good start. you can always change it.
