Are HP laptops good for gaming ?

I'm planning to buy a gaming laptop, but am confused between two companies HP and DELL. My price range is around Rs. 45000.

HPs are notoriously unreliable. See my source.

    Dell is a safer bet.

Any laptop is good for gaming if you spend enough money on it; the more you spend on a video card and processor, the better it games.

One thing worth mentioning is that laptops are much, much more expensive than desktops for gaming, and run slower at the same time. If you're not moving around much, buying a laptop is counter intuitive (not a good idea) -- not to mention that a laptop's tiny 17" screen is a real eye sore for gaming.

HP makes some good high performance laptops like the dv6t. It comes standard with the Intel i3 but you can upgrade to the i5 for $50 USD. You can also get the dv6t select edition which comes with the i5 but the computer is more expensive. Also, HP often offers free upgrades when you order a custom laptop off of their website. For example, you can get 6GB of RAM instead of 4GB of RAM through a free upgrade.

Keep in mind that laptops are not the best platform for gaming. You may see performance issues with certain games on a laptop that you would not see on a desktop. However, most good laptops are capable of handling today's games with little to no problems.

I do not know what currency you are using but from what exchange rate info I could find, you have a pretty decent budget for a nice laptop.

Use their websites to configure their respective entertainment or powerhouse laptops. HP has the Envy series that have been top rater by PC Magazine for a few years over the Dell XPS series. I would recommend the Envy but it might be the edge of your price range. Try to find a strong balance between graphics, RAM and processor. usually the recommended settings on HP's customize website are very powerful.

Good price range look for HP dm6/dm4/dm3 series. I know its a quite big selection but you will find one suitable config to game and watch HD movies etc. And yeah I have a 2 year old HP Pavilion dv4 laptop and it still can play crysis 2 at mid setting and black ops at extreme. (G102M - I know its old but it has 48 cuda cores)

you need to give us more than just brand names. give us models of the brands. for all we know you could be talking about a HP Mini which would have a hard enough time running a video. or a dell inspiron 2500 which only has 700MHz of processing speed
