Why do you belive or not belive that what is written in the Bible is true?
Is it because you have been taught this from a young age? Is it because it is something you know from the heart? What makes you believe or not believe?

This is a very tender subject for me.
I knew I wanted the truth from Bible. I no longer wanted to just "have" a religion.
I have come to see there is a real difference between Christian and Christiandom.
A Christian is a foot step follower of Christ. He set the pattern on how to treat others, on how to give yourself to others, how to stand up for what is right, how to have self respect and self dignity, how to have empathy, how to take a courageous stand for what is right in the face of severe opposition.........etc.....(this is what I wanted).
Christiandom is a religon that puts on a good front but changes the rules. These are not footstep followers of Christ. They have manmade doctrines, formalisms, rituals...etc They will follow their heart before they will follow the Bible----then claim it came from God. They use dam-nation (sp) and hellfire to put the fear of God in their parishoners. They handle a few situations scripturally, then in other areas use philosophy or idealogies...
Christiandom is an counterfeit Christian. They carry the lable but prove false to it's title. This is exactly how I grew up. I didn't want to be like that anymore.
If I were a machanic---would I have the audacity to tell everyone that is wrong to use oil, sparkplugs or filters? No--
If I were a chef---would I have the audacity to tell others that measuring cups, aprons, cutting boards or cutlery were invalid and bark at others for using them? No--
That would be foolish.
But that is what so many in Christendom has done. (Not just parishoners, but the Clergy, pastors and ministers).
I was going to list a truck load of scriptures stating why I believe what is written in the Bible--- then I thought, that isn't what is needed.
I was restless.....then I started studying the Bible.
I had the right to have the answers---not just creeds and prayers.............................
You asked a good question.

The flood of Noah was likely a retelling of an flood that filled a valley in Babylon in prehistory (there is evidence to support that flood).
The History Channel has done a pretty good analysis of the history of the Jews and their conquest of the promised land - there was a lot of military strategy involved.
Read about Horus - the son of Osiris - in Egyptian mythology and see the remarkable similarities between Horus and Jesus. Is it a coincidence that the Jews would have learned these stories during their enslavement in Egypt?
The story of Christmas was a direct lift from the Gilgamesh epic - which was written long before the supposed birth of Jesus. It was found in the dead sea scrolls.

Because it makes no sense! It has many bad contradictions and is quite ignorant about the real world. I hear about preachers passing around three collection plates every Sunday for no good reason, so I see the Bible is just part of a primitive and unsophisticated con game.

I used logic to note the many inconsistencies and immoral behavior in the Bible to deduct that it is not only fictional but simply wrong.
And before anyone says the Old Testament is Allegorical and the Jesus books are Literal I suggest you provide some type of methodology to determine this.

If men wrote <insert any e book call right here> how are you able to belive it quite is actual actually real? See my component? <<actual the prophets and holy men no count number how good they have been interpretated and positioned their very own spin on the words they wrote.>> you're making an assumption - and treating it as though it became a actuality. you ought to no longer try this, lest you be putting a spin on issues.

I believe that many of the historical events presented in the Bible did happen. I believe most of the people who are mentioned in the Bible existed. I align with many of the morals and values that the Bible presents. I don't believe that a magical man in the sky created the entire universe in 7 "days" (no matter what your interpretation of the word "days" is), nor that a "virgin" conceived this magical man's son.

Religious teachings of young age become one's mindset or belief you may call it. They are usually seen through the prism of faith, not that of logic. They need not be proved. So, they remain so, unless proved otherwise by some far more strong feeling, which is very rare. And in the majority of cases a born Christian dies a Christian. The same thing applies to the believers of other religions.
