For all the people in the Comics&Animation section?
I was just wondering about what type of people are here. For instance i'm a 16 year old girl from California.
I was just wondering if there are more girls than guys in Comics&Animation?
Or whether there's a certain age group that dominates this section, like teenagers for instance? I would love some outlier answers like some really young kids or older adults. <-- i think that would be very interesting, don't you? but please be honest in your answers!
And i was wondering how far the influence of anime has spread across this country so that's why i was wondering what states people in this section are from.
thank you everyone for answering! =D there are more answers from 20+ year old yahoo users than i expected which i think is great! and a good portion of you guys are from the mid-atlantic, midwest, south, or west which is interesting to hear.

I'm a girl, going to be 27 this month.
I'm originally from California, but now I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. :)
Also I'm married to a 26 year old guy, that also enjoys the occasional anime.
Doesn't like anime as much as me though. ^__^

I'm female (which you probably guessed by my name...not a lot of guys out there named Mandy), 26 years old, from Pennsylvania.
Like pretty much everyone else, I'd watched anime for most of my life, often without even knowing it, but about 13-14 years ago (around 1997/98) was when I started to get actively interested in it and really consider myself an "anime fan." It's been a big part of my life ever since!
I feel like C&A is pretty even as far as genders go, about half male and half female. And I have no doubt that the huge majority of users in C&A are in their teens. I'm not "old," but at 26, I'm older than most of the users here (although I know for a fact there are a few regulars here older than me).

Wow, I guess I'm being proven wrong about the gender thing! Definitely more girls here, judging by these answers so far.

I'm 16 and im a girlX3 I live in Georgia. The first anime I ever watched was Fruits Basket when I was 12. I was on netflix and i was searching through looking for something to watch because i was soooo bored! I saw the anime Fruits Basket and I had always loved anime stuff, I just didnt really kno if there were anime shows, the only anime related thing I knew about was Pokemon. So I started watching it and i LOVED IT!!!! So I started looking some more on netflix and the computer then io watched Shugo Chara, then Ouran High School Host Club, then Kaichou wa Maid-sama, and now I'm totally in love with it! I've seen 20 anime shows so far and still goin strong!!XDD I always answer Comics&Animation questions all the time. I LOVE HELPING PPL WITH THIER ANIME QUESTIONS!!!X33
Oh and btw Pokemon was my REAL first anime, then Digimon, but I don't really consider them as anime bc they're for like little kids and i saw them when i was like 5-8 or something. My older brother loved Pokemon and Digimon so he liked to watch it with me:D

20 year old, from New York
I do think there are more teenagers in this section, predominately (but there are still adults and younger children who are in this section). As for gender, I don't pay attention to that so I wouldn't know. I've watched anime since I was probably 8 years old, but I got into it a lot more when i was 11 years old.

i do no longer think of I slot in any of your categories. i'm probable plenty older than lots of the customers right here; i've got been a wrestling fan through fact the overdue-60's. I overlook bearing directly to the trolls. i do no longer end each answer with "cena sux" or something comparable. i don't have a "gorgeous" avatar or "cool" call. I spell properly. i take advantage of complete sentences with suitable punctuation. i do no longer insult different customers no count number how asinine their questions/solutions could be to me. i do no longer blame the "sorry state of professional wrestling" on the actuality that John Cena is the champion. I %. and choose what questions I answer, the two people who pastime me or people who i think i provides some perception to (through fact of my 40 years as a fan). Hmm...I look to have created a clean classification. I look a Wrestling area Snob : / Oh nicely... P.S. exciting question. You get a celebrity.

I'm a teenage girl from new york. I'm half chinese and half american. I started watching and reading anime and manga in third grade. I was really young at that age so I was mostly just looking at things like yu-gi-oh. However, I could easily read manga from right to left because I already had been reading books in chinese. I can't live without manga!

I'm a 16 year old girl from Tennessee.
I saw Fullmetal Alchemist on tv one night in 6th grade and began watching every now and then. In 8th grade i started watching it again and ended up buying the dvds because i became obsessed xD Then i watched Death Note after my friend lent me the mangas (also 8th grade). That's when i really started getting into anime. :) I'm like the only one of my friends that likes anime too, well besides my Death Note friend. lol

im an 18 year old girl from California.
I didn't like anime at first because i didn't really understand the concept of it i suppose. Especially manga. I couldn't understand why you had to read it backwards lol. so in 11th grade my friend who is OBSESSED with it kinda showed me the ropes of how to read manga. Then I couldn't stop reading it, and at school (small private school), we had this little manga trading circle going on haha. we would find a series and we would all rotate mangas. it was really fun. then the first real anime i ever watched was Peach Girl (if you dont include pokemon when i was little). The same friend who got me into manga told me to watch Vampire Knight saying "ITS THE BEST THING EVER". so i watched it and i liked it, but she was into the really romantic boy meets girl type of anime. and im more into action and mind twisting (like death note which in reality IS the best thing ever) so i started watching my own type of animes =). So after that i moved schools which ended the manga trading post. and all the people at my new school who like manga/anime kind of had their own club going so i just kind of enjoyed it by myself and made other friends.
in the end, i love manga/anime, and i hope to meet more friends in the future who like it. =D
