Does anyone else get the feeling you like others more than they like you?
I was wondering how many people get this feeling, and how often? Whenever I'm not occupied and busy I start feeling sorry for myself and feeling insecure and paranoid. Like to hope I'm not the only one?

Use what you have said to make them like you! They are wrapped up in themselves, so ask them about themselves!
Listening is good for making friends: ask people questions about them selves & their opinions and listen to them without interruption, except for little comments that demonstrate that you're really listening. It shows you are taking them seriously. (As in respect). Be open minded and try not to disagree with people - if they like a band you hate, ask what it is they like about them, best track, etc. (Avoid the word, “why” as it can sound challenging). You can always say you don't listen to them much but you will now or something. Asking for advice is also good. Genuinely, of course, & don't overdo it. Ditto information – we feel pleased to tell someone something interesting they didn’t know, such as what’s on in town, latest sports score, etc., so by being impressed by that you’ll get some good feelings from them. Smiling is a good sign of acceptance.
Remember, if you want to have a friend, you have to BE a friend, and the best way to impress someone is to be impressed by them!
Good Luck!

HECK YEAH!! And I'm tired of that one sided 'love'.
I got and extreme dose of it when I was talking to someone for like a few seconds and I turn around to see my two 'friends' walking somewhere else. I also remember waiting for them at concession stands at school activities and when I want something and they see someone else they talk and leave with them.
As for how often...when ever I treat someone nice and they don't return the favor to me but to someone else instead! That's basically at school but it's not as much since I started talking with new people:)

I have this problem with a girl at my school all the time. She is really popular and everybody likes her. She tries to like everybody but if you say something funny, she will do a fake smile and turn away. Don't take it too seriously, it will happen wherever you go.

I feel exactly the same! I feel like Ive got so much love to give and want to be people's friend but they cant be bothered because they are too wrapped up in their own interests and lives.
