How to become a teen psychologist?

I want to either become a teen therapist or psychologist. I want to help teens that are sucidal, depressed and that self harm. I would also like to deal with teens with disorders like schizophrenia, paranoia and so on. Can therapists deal with those kind of patients or can psychologists only deal with cases that serious? I'm about to begin college at a community college and want to know what classes or procedures I need to become that. I'll be seeing a school counselour on monday to help discuss what classes I need but if any of you have any ideas on what it takes to become a teen psychologist/therapist it'd be much appreciated. Thank you.

There is no firm distinction between a psychologist and a therapist. Many people who have degrees in psychology call themselves therapists. You want to get a degree in psychology, clinical therapy, or social work. (Licensed social workers can provide therapy.)

A psychiatrist is distinct. This is someone with a medical doctorate (MD) and can prescribe medications.

In some states, someone with a doctorate in clinical psychology or clinical therapy can prescribe psychiatric medications.
