Can I change my router or firewall settings to maintain a fast cable modem speed?

Sometimes my download speed will dip as low as 10% maximum speed. If I power-cycle my router, it fixes this. Is there something I can change on my router or firewall to keep the speed constant, without having to power-cycle. It's a bummer because it takes about 30 seconds. I have a Linksys wireless router and I know how to access the settings. My firewall is ZoneAlarm.

Thanks in advance

    maybe, i can't though

we put men on the moon, still no fast internet.

maybe get a new ISP, or back to dial up

my bros company all thought staying with dial up made sense, maybe they forgot
