Home remedies for nausea and vomiting?

Grandaughter has a very bad flu, has been to doctor and is taking her medication, but she coughing so badly that she is vomiting. Is there anyway I can alleviate the coughing and/or vomiting with a home remedy?

    Inhaling steam helps - put a bowl of very hot water on a flat surface and get her to lean over it with a towel completely covering her head and the bowl. Breathe it in deeply. To make it even more effective, add some friar's balsam or Vick to the water.

    get her to drink some slightly salty water, it'll open up the airways so making breathing easier. if my kids are sick i give them water and a bag of crisps (for the salt) and something with potassium in it - banana, to counteract the results of dehydration.

    I'd recommend placing your head between your knees, but the MENSA candidates YA! has working for them might mistake that for some kind of sexual euphemism.

    ...so instead, I'll just recommend good ol' doxylamine succinate (Unisom®).
