How do I fix my Wi-fi/internet on my laptop? It says "no connections are available" ?

So my laptop is not connected to wifi/Internet but it's connected to my iPod and it works; how do I fix this? When I click on the Wi-fi icon at the bottom of my laptop it says "No connections are available" I reseted the modem and the laptop but it still doesn't work! help? x

    Look for a wifi switch on ur laptop anywhere. Most probably on the front or side.if u find it switch it on and scan for networks and connect

    Make sure your wireless adaptor is enabled. If its disabled, even if you click on the icon, you wont be able to detect anything. Right click your adaptor and see if the option to Enable is available. If Disable option is given, go ahead and disable and then re-enable as this should reset your adaptor.

    if i understand well,you need a router too to be wi-fi,not only a modem;)
