Male Beta and Algae eater?
Can I have a male Beta and an Algae eater in the same fish bowl?
Beta live in bowls fine, Ive had a beta in a bowl for over a year and a half...
THEY DONT NEED HEATERS, AND ITS NOT CRUEL. IT'S A FRIGGIN FISH, THEY DONT HAVE FEELINGS, ALL THEY 'CARE' ABOUT IS EATING AND BREEDING. THERE IS ALSO A PLANT GROWING OUT OF THE VASE SO ITS ACTUALLY CLOSER TO THEIR NATURAL HABITAT THAN KEEPING IT IN A 5 GALLON TANK WITH PLASTIC FLOWERS.

Only flowers fit in bowls. Not fish.
A Betta needs a proper tropical filtered cycled fish tank. It won't survive in a bowl.
Do you know what kind of "algae eater" you actually want? That little term can apply to anything that grazes algae, from shrimp to 24" long Plecos. Bettas can cohabit with some species of fish that graze algae, but you need a tank over 20-30 gallons to accommodate that species' needs.

No, you can't have ether in a bowl. You will need at least a 3 gallon tank with a heater and filter for the Betta and a much larger tank for the algae eater.

In a bowl, no.
The smallest "algae eater" needs about a 20gal tank, the "Common" species much more.
Apart from that, you can keep them together.
In a smaller tank, well, snails and shrimp eat algae.

Betta in a fish bowl, yes, though it will fare better in a 5 gal tank with a heater.
Algae eater in a fish bowl, no. You can keep them together in a TANK, though. If small tank, get just a Bristlenose Pleco. Make sure it is still at least a 10 gal (mainly for the Pleco). Btw, Pleco's poop a lot, so, be prepared to clean your gravel a lot.
Source(s): all you people who gave me thumbs down are stupid. To the person who posted the question, call a fish store and ask the professionals there if what I said is right. I have 15 yrs exp with many fish, esp Angels, Plecos and Bettas. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.
