Well you have some good answers.
It’s true that stainless steel barrels fair better in a marine environment than a blued barrel. I live in such a place. And I own several rifles and pistols that are stainless steel. And I don’t like that shinny steel either! So before I go on a hunt I wrap the rifle with removable camouflage tape. And when I get home it comes off. This stops the glare and protects the soft stainless steel from scratches some.
I found on long trips into the woods a stainless steel barrel is a huge plus. Sure you have to clean them and yes it can still rust but it takes a hell of a lot longer to get spots of rust than a blued barrel. I have seen blued barreled guns start to rust over night in my marine environment. It took almost a week before a stainless barrel showed any rust spots and they came of easily with very fine steel wool and some oil.
A tip; you can make a stainless steel barrel look less shinny by going all over it with 000 steel wool. It gives it a brushed matt look and cuts down glare quite a bit.
So no I don’t like them but I sure use them.

The obvious con is that they are more expensive. The glare is not a factor for a target/plinking rifle, but for any kind of hunting it will be a drawback.
Another con is that most people think they can get away with very little cleaning or no cleaning at all if they have a stainless steel rifle. While the stainless parts are more resistant to corrosion than carbon steel under the same conditions, a dirty, fouled stainless barrel will corrode more readily than a cleaned, lightly oiled blued barrel.
If you live, hunt, or shoot in a damp environment or near salt water, the stainless steel rifle with regular maintenance will hold up a lot better than a blued rifle.

Yes Its a wonderful little carbine. I bought mine a Dick's 5 Years ago and have never looked back. It's light enough to hunt small game with and it's barrel is heavy enough to shoot long ranges. Its very fun and it has never jammed, even though it has had failure to fires. That is probably Because of the cheap ammunition though. For the price, it is very much worth the money. With the same accuracy or a Ruger 10/22 and half the price, I'd say go for it and don't look back.

Not unless you live in either Washington or Oregon state, or do a lot of boating. (Personally, I hate the way these stainless rifles reflect light and shine all over the place.)

Style & corrosion protection. Same reason they use it in bathrooms. Like the Doc said, the glare in bright sun can be a problem.
