Can a WWII veteran's significant other be buried on base with him?

I have a friend who is researching burial options for his mother who is slowly passing away. Her wish is to be buried with her husband. Problem is he is buried on an army base. Is it possible? I don't even know where to ask or start looking. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I would think this would be possible. Spouses can be buried beside their husbands in the National cemeteries.

I would start by visiting the cemetery or base and find out who makes that decision. You might look to see if other spouses are buried there.

Or, you could contact the VA.

*** There is at least one cemetery which is on an Army installation, Fort Leavenworth. The website says they have limited room for casket burials for spouses.

The thing is, yes spouses may be buried but unless you make provisions when your friend's father passed away, there probably isn't any room next to him. You may have to exhume and rebury the father if they want to be side by side. Usually this request is made when the veteran passes away so that the cemetary keeps a ploy available next to the veteran. You can probably look this up, just google the veteran's administration and the name of the cemetary the father is buried in.

NO! Firstly WE don't bury veterans "on base" !

If he was married and it's his spouse they can be buried together at a MILITARY Cemetery !
