country music fans: why do you like country more than any other genre?

i like it best because no other style of music speaks to me as much as country. also, i can relate my life to most songs

your thoughts?

Update:

not to mention i have been listening to it since the day i was born

Update 2:

@@bbtalk, i couldnt agree more. everything you said is 100% true and a lot of those reasons are why i stuck to country music even though a good 75%+ people listen to rock and (C)rap/hip hop

Update 3:

whoever thumbed down bbtalk's answer, go back to rap/hip hop or stop trolling...her answer is 100% true whether you agree or not

It talks about the good times, the bad times, jerks at the heart strings, makes you laugh, makes you stop and think about what you've and what the future may hold, it's about life, and reality. There are the great love songs, and the broken heart songs. Yes I like many of the other genres out there, but my roots are, and always will be country. I've watched many of my generation start listening to what I was listening to, all those years ago. Two songs could be a start to sum a good chunk of my life. Barbara Mandrell 's "I Was Country when Country Wasn't Cool," and Bob Luman's "You Can't Take the Country From the Boy.”

Country music is... real. Not only have I grown up on country, but it is BASED on life... on the same events that happen to everyone. It is entirely effortless to connect and relate to country music--something that has helped me though a LOT of problems so far in life.. There are songs that I know will make me cry, smile, laugh, dance, and think when I listen to them... there are

Also, country artists can actually SING. In today's popular music, so many artists computerize their voices... it's hard to tell where the talent truly lies. Country takes us back to our roots.. back before people were mixing voices in order to sell records. Of course, I do listen to some of these artists too... but there's a reason why country holds a special place in my heart.... it is just real. =)

Yeah Ive been listening to country since the day I was born too.I love it, it's a part of me, I wouldn't be the same person without it, Ive lived my life by many country songs. It's part of me like part of my family. There's a country song that can relate to any situation in life, so no matter if you're going through difficult times or really good times there is always a country song you can find to match what you're going through.Ive said this before, but a country song can be a persons best friend.Country music is a way of life.

I have listened to several different genres of music over the last 40 years.

in the 70's it was Disco, because my friends liked it.i still listened to country

in the 80's i listened to metal and hair bands, i still listened to country

in the 90's we moved, i still listened to country.i chose country music. i

loved it the first time i heard it.(Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys)

in the new century i found new traditional country and I loved it too.

I searched the net found some stations still playing what i loved.

also i found web sites where i could buy the music i loved from artists

i had never heard of before. i found people that loved the music that i love too.

this is not meant to be a rant, you asked so i am telling you.

I like country music because I can relate most of it to my life. I've been listening to it most of my life. I don't prefer it over punk-rock, I like both genres for the same reason.Perfect Exs Gunpowder and lead-Miranda Lambert because no man should treat a woman like a piece of trash. Basket Case-Green Day (<3) because I kinda rum myself to the point of near insanity and I bet a lot of you other people do to.

it talks about life in general. but while we are on the subject alot of people say they listen to country because they like it and they don't like music like rap but then they have no problem listening to big and rich early music which was completely rap/country so at that point they are listening to a type of rap that is barley country at all?

Depends on what "Type" of Country music you are referring to....

And I like other kinds of music also.... My all-time favorite singers

    1. Marty Robbins ( Very top shelf, all by himself)

    2. Neil Diamond

    3. Sinatra

    4. Merle Haggard

    and,

    Women Singers.. 1. Connie Francis

    2. Anne Murray

    3. Connie Smith (Country)...

I like it most because I like to have something relate to my life and most of the time (as long as it's not that rap country crap) you can understand what it is saying and don't have to guess.....

    That's why I do.
