Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood?

"Communication is the most important skill in life.

If you want to interact effectively with me, to influence me, you first need to understand me.

Very few of us ever practice the highest form of listening -- empathic listening."

----Stephen Covey

I'm wondering....if we listen anymore?

How about you?

Do you remain open to new ideas?

Or have you arrived at conclusions that are set in stone?

For example: I live with an immortal, a person who has ascended.

Do you believe me?

In your eyes...is it even possible that I could be stating the truth?

Why or why not?

I invite you to respond any way you wish.

Thank you.

Update:

Michael: He ascended in the year 2000 of our time.

Update 2:

Psyengine: I wonder why you don't believe me? I am stating the truth. The example I gave is not hypothetical. It's real.

Update 3:

Kuma: What?

'I'm wondering....if we listen anymore?' 'We'? Hell no, do you not watch TV?

    'How about you?' yes.

'Do you remain open to new ideas?' Yes, if they are new.

'Or have you arrived at conclusions that are set in stone?' AND, I have arrived at conclusions that are yet to be set in stone.

'For example: I live with an immortal, a person who has ascended.

Do you believe me?' No. :-)

'In your eyes...is it even possible that I could be stating the truth?' No. :-)

Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood?

no and yes. it is simultaneous, to be understood is to understand self. only then can one ever attempt to understand anything else. to perceive the world without self, is to perceive the world similar to a lens, a non-conscious entity.

Do you remain open to new ideas?

Or have you arrived at conclusions that are set in stone?

there are certain things i know that can not change no matter the experience i am presented with, though these things are all within me, they are me, including my ability to change myself at will. anything i experience externally or even contemplate internally "can" evolve my knowledge of the reality i reside within.

I live with an immortal, a person who has ascended.

    Do you believe me?

In your eyes...is it even possible that I could be stating the truth?

    Why or why not?

this is a slightly tricky question, though the answer is quite simple. think of it as Schrodinger's cat experiment, i can know the possibilities and thus the truth, but i can never know for certain until i experience first hand. in the instance of the cat, i can not know the truth until i open the box and see the proof. in the instance of your companion who is immortal/ascended, i can know the possibilities, but i could never know for certain which possibility is truth. though when it comes to the cat, the consensus is that the cat is both alive and dead at some point, i disagree. the cat must be alive or dead, just because we do not know the truth does not mean that all are possibilities are truth.

Like many things, empathic listening is easily developed with a simple shift in perspective. Almost all people see everything from the point of view of hiser specific interests because of the delusion that our lives are separate from each other. Even though many great teachers have tried to tech us that we are all interdependent, the eyes can't see the connections and so we think we are separate.

Shakyamuni taught the twelve-fold chain of causation 2500 years ago, and few of the sects that propound to teach his work, actually enable people to overcome the visual delusion.

Only SGI teaches the method that incrementally enables human beings to drop this most poisonous of viewpoints.

This immortal that has ascended in 2000 had a familiar spirit and it is that familiar spirit that you are living with and not the person you think. To seek communication with these evil spirits is very dangerous, because they want to communicate and deceive you into thinking that you are communicating with a loved one.

Edit: I believe Michael could be speaking of fallen angels that are among us and because of the increase of sin that we have invited into our nations these fallen angels are manifesting themselves.

One day this will be a lot worse because Scripture says "Woe to the earth for Satan and his angels have come down to you."

I think, the quote is quite right.

Though I have arrived at some conclusions,

    especially relating to the spirituality,

but I always remain open to new ideas

and I find myself always ready to discuss them positively to reach at more appropriate conclusions.

For me, it does not matter, whether you are telling a lie or stating the truth.

I like it, but its easier said than done sometimes.

Perhaps Kuma means that if you seek to be understood, you retain some doubt in yourself, in which case there is no real validity to being understood.

Thats a great quote. i hadnt heard it before. i enjoy hearing other people. i like to relate to people who arent really like me, some common ground, but at the same time remain true to myself, which i find is possible without insulting anyone.

    why shouldnt i believe you.

I lives in truth and He who is immortal lives that truth. We of Him are as his Earth and are a moment in immortal of I our stage One .

I hear and I listen and I know me.

“Do you remain open to new ideas?”

I hear and I listen and I know me,

    and the ideas,

I hear and I listen and I know me; for we are me in the newness of Life I know.

“Or have you arrived at conclusions that are set in stone?” no stone here! For i am new and He knows me, Me and the beloved are one.

“I live with an immortal, a person who has ascended.

    Do you believe me?”

Yes,’ I a person who has ascended, for I gave me away (Son)and truth was his name who believed me, immortal. We live because He lived, He who was with God in the beginning. He I hear and I listen and I know me Himself.

“In your eyes...is it even possible that I could be stating the truth?

    Why or why not?”

When word is it, how can I say not of him, be; for private is God and as spoken no one has seen God at one time. But only the Father alone, knows.
