Yep. When I went catfishing with my grandpa the other night and we caught a 14 pound snapping turtle on cutbait. It was unexpected, but still exciting.
And Soup, what's wrong with you. he said T-U-R-T-L-E, not C-R-A-B lol.

Yeah, yesterday actaully
if they are big enough they will bite the bait off and get caught like a fish. Its really annoying though because if the hook gets in deep, the turtle's head will go into its shell when you try to take it out.. Its harder than taking it out of a fish.. and I feel bad haha unlike fish which I don't care about.

Yes. I actually had a small turtle bite the rod tip and I lifted it up for about 2 seconds out of the water before it let go. Most people just catch them by hook and line which is common all over the world where turtles are found. ~good luck catchin'. ...just not turtles. ; )

I wasn't trying catch them but when I lived down south I used to catch alligator snappers all the time. What a pain. The turtles would swallow the bait and I would have to cut the line. They have a mean bite so be careful.

I catch them constantly in a pond that's full of them when I'm fishing for Carp/Cats. They seem to take dough-bait like crazy on hot days. I hate catching them though, another hook gone and no fight..

a few times and one this spring. most of them were when i was bait-fishing using a bobber but the one this spring i got on a big leech pattern on a fly-rod. years ago i hooked a loon on a sinking fly but it broke my leader pretty quick during take-off.
