8 Ball game question, can you do this?

If on your first shot, and the table is still open....can I play a billiard shot using opposite side balls....say I kiss the cue ball of a stripe and cue ball knocks in a solid.....calling the solid in that pocket? Is this legal and still my shot?...remember, table is still open!....just thought of another angle on this, could I do the same of the 8 ball?

    WPA world-standardized rules:

3.4 Open Table / Choosing Groups

Before groups are determined, the table is said to be “open,” and before each shot, the shooter must call his intended ball. If the shooter legally pockets his called ball, the corresponding group becomes his, and his opponent is assigned the other group. If he fails to legally pocket his called ball, the table remains open and play passes to the other player. When the table is “open”, any object ball may be struck first except the eight ball.

So your first example would be legal, but hitting the 8 ball first is illegal.

And the same applies for APA rules. See section 4.e in the second link below.

The simple answer is yes, and you could do the same on the 8 ball, provided you hit it first with the cue ball. Those are standard rules for the APA amateur pool league. www.poolplayers.com You can find a local league near you by going to that web site.

there are different different comments approximately this. a million... What format are you enjoying? Many leagues that don't require you to call you pocket basically require you to call the 8 ball. if so then you definitely win if it is the suggested as pocket. 2... in case you're enjoying "bar" regulations it rather is amazingly like domicile regulations play. If domicile regulations say 8 could desire to pass sparkling then no you lose. If domicile regulations say call your action then you definitely could win in case you suggested as the play of shop on with the different ball. 3... In some league formats such via fact the APA you're required to Mark your pocket with an merchandise verifying which you somewhat pick that pocket for the 8 ball. 4... some backwards left wing retarded 0.33 international countries have the have faith that your ball could desire to pass in first, it is basically stupid, yet that falls decrease back to domicile regulations. in my opinion you're able to desire to call your action whilst basically enjoying vs acquaintances and out on city, subsequently you're able to lose except you suggested as the play!!
