when a dog is skunked...?

how do you go about getting it off their face? he wasn't actually sprayed...but i think he sniffed right where the skunk had just sprayed. his muzzle is very strong smelling. i know for the rest of their body you'd use tomato juice to get the smell away...but how do you go about getting it off of their face? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks. :)

Tomato juice does not remove skunk spray; your brain simply tunes out the smell. The New York University article that explains this includes a homemade deskunk recipe at the link. (You need 3% hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and liquid detergent.)

Tomato juice only covers up the odor. There is a recipe online made of Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide & detergent that will neutralize the skunk odor particles. Look it up for the measurements.

Have a jar of tomato juice and put your dog in a bubble bath. First put bubbles on his/her muzzle, nect rinse it off and then put some tomato juice on the muzzle.

My brother and I were sprayed when we were younger

My mom bathed us in tomato juice

I'm sure the same thing works for a dog...

You wash the face as well when bathing him in tomato juice.

use a rag soaked in tomato juice, and watch the choppers, as it tends to upset the little buggers. if you have the notion to, use a small scrub brush dipped in it.

go to walmart. there is a safe organic spray that is used for this. its very safe to spray right on them. theres only two simple ingredients and it works! its only 3.78 and well worth it! best of luck
