Can I sue a college or university if I can prove that their standards in a class where not clear and focused? Causing me to misunderstand and fail a class?

I just want my monies worth and I do not feel like I am getting it. So, I want my money back.

Most universities have various processes in place that allow you to protest a grade, or protest your treatment in a class, dispute resolution, or etc. Talk to your advisor first, and discuss what happened in this class. Then ask her how you can appeal this grade. In fact, if your school has what's called an "Ombudsman", go there first. If not, then start with your advisor.

You'd want to go into these conversations with some options. You won't get your money back - that's just not going to happen - so what, other than that, might satisfy you? Could you get your F changed to a retroactive W, for example? Or to an Incomplete, so you can redo the assignments and resubmit them for a new grade?

You can't sue the uni or college. Normally, when you enroll, you've agreed to follow the policies and procedures of this uni, including those they have re: resolution of academic issues; and those policies include things like in-university arbitration, but not lawsuit.

No. You wont win. It also cost a lot of money to get a lawyer and sue a college! You can complain to the dean of students or the dean of your department. If you withdraw early from a course you get some of the money back. You are most likely out of luck because I am sure some students did well in that course which makes your story look completely like it was your fault not the course or professor's fault.

If you could sue for a class being sub-standard, almost every university in the country would be facing lawsuits. Any reasonable judge will ask why you didn't drop the class, withdraw, go in for extra help, or simply try harder. Is it fair? No. But neither is suing because you didn't get your way.

I'm not sure if you can sue them for that, specifically, but I've heard of them being sued for other things.

You can sue, but you won't win. They will argue you had several resources to inform yourself if you didn't understand something.

unfortunately no but you can claim compensation in extreme circumstances but unfortunately you having a sh*t lecturer probably wont wash with the uni.
