To UFO "skeptics", you claim no scientist has ever reported a UFO?

That is bull. My uncle was a university science professor and practiced many science experiments at home, invented his own products, won many awards and was extremely successful. He didn't believe in any paranormal stuff or UFO's, and then he saw one and reported it a few times because he swore it was an alien-looking spacecraft.

So, you want us to accept the hypothesis that UFO's are alien vehicles because Clyde Tombaugh (among others), reported a UFO sighting? How on earth does that 'prove' the hypothesis? Tombaugh was an accomplished observer, even an expert, but he was not an 'authority'. Truly, there are no 'authorities'.

I don't know who would say no astronomers have seen UFO's, but I would say that the percentage of sightings (mis-identifications) in the astronomical community is much much smaller than the percentage in the general population.

I'm sure many scientists, like the rest of us, have seen UFO's. The difference is they don't jump to a conclusion like a UFO conspiracy nut.

I think it might be best if we let Clyde Tombaugh speak for himself.

"We can't exclude the possibility that some of the number of UFO-cases are ET-visitors. But I have a hard time to believe it before I have seen authentic proof. I have to be reserved, can't say neither yes or no. It has been so many cranks and hoaxes in this field, and so many misjudgments - UFO's has certainly ended up with a bad reputation..."

Most skeptics I know feel extraterrestial life is very likely. They just don't see enough evidence to jump on the "they are here" bandwagon.

This is like saying if the president of the USA saw a UFO that is good enough too. People of authority does not strengthen your claim. They are human and can be wrong. Something else is needed, such as physical evidence. Not hearsay.

The worst evidence for scientists is eyewitness testimony. Human brains are not reliable data collectors. We make errors all the time. This is why no miracles are recorded in history books.

Ah, the UFO argument, something I always win no matter how smart the opponent. EVERYONE should say that there is such a thing as a UFO. To deny this is to be an idiot. And here is my reason:

1. UFO = Unidentified Flying Object

2. If you see something in the sky that you cannot identify, it's a UFO

3. UFO does not mean alien spaceship (could be man-made).

Qualified for what? Blowing more smoke is not going to convince us, no matter how big you make the smoke cloud.

So the guy found a big meteor and min-identified it as a planet. I think its possible he could mis-identify other things too.

His testimony is just as good as anyone else, reguardless of his stature in astronomy.

What we want is something beyond blurry pictures and second hand stories. Show us a real alien spacecraft, or alien.

I've never hard of him - is this the bloke who discovered the planet Pluto only for it later to be found NOT a planet - doesn't say a lot for him does it therefore his "evidence" is likely to be disregarded.

Don't be silly. No evidence you present will be sufficient. The naysayers will only be convinced by a statement from our government that they have made contact with extra terestrial life. {Like we can trust our government}

One point- Many objects have been sighted but never identified- that makes them UFO's but not necessarily anything to get excited about.
