Terrain Map/Flooding Risks?

Is there a way to fill a map by terrain with 'water' to see the effects of flooding (locations). I would like to find out if it is possible for my area to flood; I live in a valley.

Sure. Grab a crayon and color in the lowest lying areas nearest a body of water.

What's possible and what's likely are 2 different things. A Flood stage analysis would be more accurate. You can Google for one in your area, check your city hall website for flood planning, or check your (or a neighbor's if you rent) house paperwork. If you're in a floodplain it has to be disclosed when you buy.
