Why do people continue to try hard drugs, becoming addicted to them when we know how destructive this is?

Doesn't nearly everyone see the mistakes people make when becoming a heroin addict or even an alcoholic? Why would anyone with a brain choose to go down that road?

Why do people choose to join the military and participate in wars? Why must our government always have a villain for us to hate? Why do we choose to kill babies in the womb?

With all the things we do, the drugs provide an escape.

At least the drugs temporarily feel better.

Everyone has their own drug. Some are more socially acceptable but everyone has one.

Just because someone tries or uses hard drugs, it doesn't mean they are going to become addicted. The people who become addicted are the people who choose not to use them responsibility, but those people are going to get into trouble regardless of what they do because they either have impulse control issues or an addictive personality types.

My personal opinion: I think that more people now days are being raised without learning the skill of waiting for gratification. Everyone wants everything ... now. A lot of people never learn to earn things, or satisfaction. There have been studies done on small children - one example: The children are given 2 marshmallows. They are instructed to leave the marshmallows on the table until the instructor returns - a few minutes. They are told that if they leave the marshmallows there, they will be given 2 more upon the instructor's return.

The study lasted 20yrs. The children were tracked over the 20yrs and it was found that the children who were able to leave the marshmallows grew up and had successful lives, became productive citizens.

Those who chose to have immediate gratification, ALL spent time in prison. Not just county jail, but PRISON.

And people are spending a lot more time in our society on their electronic equipment than sitting face to face teaching their kids life skills ... so, I believe we will see MUCH more of the addictive behavior you are mentioning.

    Bummer, but that's my take.

Generally, people who become addicted to drugs have a history of dysfunction and addiction in their family.

The damage done to these people in their family leads them to experiment with altering the mood and perceptions. They tend to look for a way to escape their depressed state that the dynamics of their family inflicts them with.

Drugs and alcohol are always readily available to try and once the person imbibes in them, they usually find the escape from their depression they were looking for. Their troubles disappear for awhile and they feel better.

Then the effects wear off and they are left with their depression again. So, they imbibe again and again until they ultimately become physically addicted to their drug of choice.

People are under the impression that human beings are thinking animals. We are not. We are feeling animals with the ability to think. So, it's in our nature to feel better first before we consider the consequences.

Male sexual arousal is a complex process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. To solve the erectile dysfunction i suggest to check this natural method https://tr.im/sT1Ay .

Erectile dysfunction can result from a problem with any of these. Likewise, stress and mental health problems can cause or worsen erectile dysfunction. Sometimes a combination of physical and psychological issues causes erectile dysfunction. For instance, a minor physical problem that slows your sexual response may cause anxiety about maintaining an erection. The resulting anxiety can lead to or worsen erectile dysfunction.

When people feel bad, they will do what they have to to feel better, including taking drugs. The problem with drugs is, they do make people feel better...temporarily, but they do work, nonetheless. At least one problem is that saying all drugs are bad, and that all drugs are EQUALLY dangerous, makes kids skeptical the first time they take a hit off a joint and don't DIE. An awful lot of kids who went to D.A.R.E. classes went on to disbelieve good advice after being spoonfed that crap.(They told my young nephew that coffee and cola had "dope" in them! Yet, when I told him that alcohol was illegal in the US for several years, he was amazed.)

i think it may be because from a young age kids are told to stay away from all drugs because all drugs are bad. alcohol, tobacco, weed, cocain, all of it.

drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes are accepted in society and its natural to be curious about something you see other people doing.

i think in some cases when kids do try smoking marijuana or drinking they find it fun and think they were being lied to about what those substances are really like, and maybe they were being lied to about heroin and cocain too.

I never went down that road, but as I look around me, I have only one thing to conclude: AMERICA HAS A SERIOUS MOOD PROBLEM. Anti-depressants do not work for many, many people, and prescription anti-anxiety meds usually only provide a temporary fix; they build tolerance too fast. our society overloads us with severly stressful and depressive situations; people tend to feel like they are not "good enough" for today's world and that they can't keep up with expectations. I myself have been deling with the problem through exercise, spirituality, and meditation and still I hae problems dealing with it all!
