Having trouble getting the one year old that i babysit to nap. Help!?

okay so recently i have been having trouble getting the one year old i babysit to sleep. i rock her to sleep while feeding her a bottle and sometimes she closes her eyes during the bottle but sometimes she doesnt and if she doesnt she will finish the bottle and then start screaming at the top of her lungs. Now the parents want me to do a new thing that once i finish giving her a bottle and shes still not asleep to put her in the crib and let her cry it out and stay in there with her and say laydown and if she trys to standup put her down but thats not working for me either. Any tips??

It's probably just a stage, if she's not tired at the time you lay her down try laying her down a little later in the day. She might just be a bit colicky, but leaving her in the crib is what I would suggest as well, especially if she acts tired and is fighting the nap. Don't give in though if she gets up and wants out, that teaches her that crying gets her what she wants.

Good luck and try not to get too worked up over her crying, they can sense the frustration.

Just let her cry a little while and don't let her see you. If you know she's fed and changed she'll be fine. My son is generally good about naps. Once in a while he'll fight it. After a few minutes of crying he gives up and goes right to sleep.
