Why when I paste a web link into an answer in this site it never becomes "live"?

because you are level one. you have to be level 2 and higher to post blue links, also make sure it has http:// if it just shows www. it wont show up ither not matter what level you are on.

also they have this as in not showing links for level oners, because they are trying to stop spamming from happening

In order to cut spam to post a hyperlink to photo bucket, Flickr or any other site you must be at least on the 2nd level, minimum 250 points. When you reach that level: Left click on the URL to highlight it then right click and from the drop down menu left click on copy then go to where you want to put the URL, right click and from the drop down menu left click paste then double space.

Please keep in mind, "rate me" type questions are violations for chatting.

Because your only at level 1.Go up a level and your hyper links will work.
