Why did apple stop making just the regular white MacBook?

Because the Macbook Air was the same price but thinner and more powerful. To keep it alive they would have to reduce the price of either the Macbook White or the Macbook air by a good $200 or so. A sacrifice they didnt want to make.
The macbook was thicker but more powerful than the air. Now the air is more powerful and its thinner so there was no reason to continue producing the macbook. It also just sort of outlived its life. It was the only machine that didnt really follow the rest of Apple's aluminum computer lines. It was time for it to go.
