Laptop won't boot from CD, What can the problem be?
I have an Acer Aspire 5736z-4460 windows 7, a few days ago it crashed no idea why. I ordered the recovery CDs and now that I have them and try to boot from CD it won't boot from it. I can't boot into safe mode either, it loads but just stays at the windows logo "Starting Windows" screen. I changed the boot order, boot from CD drive etc... and still no results. Any help I would appreciate it.
Changes system BIOS to default and set cd rom to first and still no luck. I will try the external drive and see how it goes.

You need to work out what key to press during the "POST" part of the bootup process (right at the start) to get a boot menu. On my ASUS and Samsung machines, it's the Esc key. Try that, or check your computer manual for the correct key.

mmm try loading the default settings in the BIOS, then save/exit.. and change the boot order again so the CD Rom's first
Does the CD work if you press the button ?
Try to take out the RAM (memory) then blow on the modules, and put it back in.. Remember to remove the battery b4 though
Source(s): You might try and borrow an external drive if the above failes - conawayLv 44 years ago
