What do you think about the Red Cross?
We gave them 60 million to help Haiti and after a year not much has been done to help them out or to rebuild . When will they send the money to help rebuild ?

60 Million seems like a lot to us, but with that much damage done to Haiti and the injured victims, I'm not sure how far 60 million went.
Why we are giving them 60 Million dollars hen our own country is in major debt I'm not sure. It's be great if we could provide the whole world enough money to help themselves every time a catastrophe happened, but we do not have the money to do that.
Source(s): But over all Red cross is a good thing. It may not seem like they did much, but I'm sure that as individuals, the people they did help, are very thankful. - Mary OLv 610 years ago
The kind of work that needs to be done takes time, and it takes time to spend money appropriately. For example--water purification is a high priority in Haiti right now and the Red Cross is part of that work. No one can live more than a few days without water, and dirty water contributes to the cholera epidemic.
First, a place has to be found for a water purification plant.
That requires engineers and surveyors to make sure that the location is appropriate and safe (i.e. not especially vulnerable to another earthquake).
Then an architect has to be found to design the plant to make sure that it will be capable of doing what is needed.
Then a builder needs to be hired, and that means that bids have to be requested to get the most value and highest quality for the money.
Then building materials have to be ordered. They have to be shipped to the location.
Then the actual construction process starts.
If anything is rushed through, then the water purification plant may not be built to last for the many years it will be needed.
Would you suggest just going down there and throwing money out of a plane?
