We can't decide your career for you, simple as that. You need to go to talk to each of your local recruiters, weigh the options, and make an educated decision. Do your research. Marines are going to make it sound a lot greater than what it really is, but if you think you'll like the gung-ho, not the best living conditions life that will teach you good discipline and fitness, go with them.

-Army is going to come at you with "faster promotions and bonus pay", that's how they get most of their recruits. They do offer many opportunities and they recently paid a bunch of money to improve their housing for their soldiers.

So it depends on what you want most! (Just an F.Y.I. Marines have the lowest re-enlistment rate... it kinda makes me wonder what causes that)

It also wouldn't hurt to check out Air Force or Navy either. You never know until you check it out!

The Army has more opportunity to advance your military career, a higher quality of life, newer equipment, faster promotions, more jobs and enlistment options, etc. Basically all the TANGIBLES.

The Marine Corps has more pride, honor, courage, and commitment. The INTANGIBLES.

They both receive training that is on par with each other. Don't listen to these fools who tell you that you need to join the Marine Corps because they are elite or tougher. They are not, it is all propaganda and a recruiting tool.

Yes the Marine Corps has a tougher Boot Camp, but Fort Benning (where all the infantry goes) is just as tough. Don't worry about your initial training (Boot Camp/Basic Training), it is the first step and doesn't define your military career. What you do after that does. The Marine Corps has lots of myths such as "first to fight", "better marksmanship", or "being the best of the best". Army Special Forces was the first one on the ground when the War on Terror started, followed by Army Rangers. The Army has won marksmanship contest for the last 11 years in a row, and the Marines and Army are both equally the best. I don't mean to bash on the USMC, but I have seen many people enlist because they think they are the best, but then get mad when they find out the truth about the Corps.

If you want to do a non-combat job I would recommend the Army, they have more jobs available, a higher quality of life, and for some MOS' more extensive training. If you want to serve in the infantry, they receive the same training, so you need to ask yourself "Do I want faster promotions, better equipment, etc." or "Do I want pride in being a Marine and a stronger sense of brotherhood."

The Army has pride, but just not as much.

If you want to be in a special ops unit, I would recommend the Army. They have more and better enlistment contracts for that, you can be guaranteed a shot at RASP (Ranger) training for example. They also have more people and funding so there is a higher chance of getting accepted into a school such as Sniper School.

Join the army. The marines are usually brainwashed idiots and from stories I have heard about marines the army plays it safer with about the same success rate as the marines. If you join the army and you want to get deployed then join the rangers. it would be that hardest thing you will ever do but is worth it at the end. While being a ranger you could still have any AIT (Advanced Individual Training) you would want. I was thinking about becoming a ranger for the longest time but at the last minute i decided to find a career I would like and stay in the states and that way I would be able to eventually make a family after a while and screw every chick I see till I want to settle down.

The Soldiers in all the Forces are awesome. but,

The Army has everything the Marines have plus more.

    Army, Fastest promotion rate

Army, Most slots for specialty schools, i.e.

Airborne, Ranger, SF, Air Assault, Sniper, Path Finder, WLC..ect

Army, Much wider variety of jobs to choose from

Army, Much Easier to change your job

    Army, Better Reserve option

Army, Do not pay for uniforms out of basic

    Army, Bigger budget for Equipment

Army, Self situating Force, Do not have to rely on Navy

Army, Choose your exact job before you join

Army, The largest force and has the most bases.

Army, More Slot to become and Officer.

    Army, awesome medical programs

Just because the Marines are smaller does not mean they are more elite just means they have less options and a smaller pool of soldiers to choose from.

Also don't buy into the myth that Marines have better training The department of defense set all the training so for example an infantry guy in the Marines gets the same training as an infantry guy in the Army about 14 weeks. Same level of toughness.

This is probably not the best approach when you are dedicating your life for a career in the military. What you should do is weigh what each has to offer and what they are all about, then decide which one is a perfect fit for you and your interests.
