Cichlid tank mates?Or which can be ?

Will you be getting a male/female pair? If so, then there's a very good chance that your other fish will be killed when they spawn, since it's such a small tank, and convicts get very aggressive after spawning. They're known for killing tank mates after spawning, to protect their fry. If they're of the same gender then your other fish may be ok, but there's still a possibility they may be harmed. Cichlids in general are aggressive and aren't easily trusted with community fish. I would suggest you not get a pair. In case you don't know, females have an orange/yellow spot on their sides. At least make sure there are lots of hiding places in the tank for your mollies and minnow, if you're not going to separate them from the convicts. Personally I would separate them.

The convicts will outgrow the mollies and the minnow and will ultimately see and fish smaller than themselves that live in their territory as a snack.

If you have a pair of convict cichlids they will probably breed, and get VERY aggressive, and kill practically any tankmates in that size tank.

dont get anymore. 40 gallons is just enough for 2 convits. they get big and agressive. especially if one is a boy and one is a girl they will breed and get even more agressive while they care for their young and will kill any other fish because of the small tank
