I want to put my hard drive into a new computer?

I have an HP DV6000 and if you know about the model you know it came with a faulty motherboard. I don't know how to install a motherboard and it seems that shopping for one compatible with this model is risky and not worth it for a motherboard that's just going to fry again.

My question :: Can I buy a different laptop case and install my hard drive into a computer that is compatible with it? If so, any suggestions on models to look for?

If I can get the computer to turn on again I'll add details on the hard drive that I have installed, it's the default that it came with

Update:

Buying an exact model would be a waste of time I think because it would most likely still have the same faulty motherboard and I don't want to go through that hassle again paying just about as much for a new computer when I already have a new one

You can buy a new laptop and a USB enclosure. Put your old hard drive in there, copy your files off of it, then use it as an external one.

Another option is to buy an identical laptop (i.e. same exact model) and simply swap the drive. It'll work fine as long as the hardware is identical.
