A guy at work insists that he can turn in paperwork with errors on it because he has dyslexia, I call BS?
He says its a disability and he continually will ridicule me when I am responsible for reviewing and correcting his paperwork. He frequently will turn in paperwork with spelling errors and makes errors on the mathematical formulas within his work. When I highlight them and give them back, he tells me its because he has a learning disability and that I cant do that. I call complete and total BS and am ready to walk up to human resources. What do you think?

What type of job is this?
If he is in a job that he literally cannot do because of his disability, you don't need to keep him around. You can always find a new placement for him where his disability won't affect him. If he is dyslexic, there are plenty of different jobs he can work where it will not interfere with this ability to do the job at all.
There are two sides to every story, however I suspect he is just lazy.

Yea, it does sound like bs..why is he even working there if he can't do that type of work? Doesn't make sense. Anyway, if he does have this "disability" that mean it was diagnosed by a dr. So tell him to get a drs note. If he can't get one then take it to human resources..ya know what, even if he CAN get a drs note still take it because someone like that definitely shouldn't be doing that kind of work. It makes everything complicated for everyone

How often do YOU inadvertently switch the order of numbers around, like the middle two numbers of the last four digits of a telephone number you know very well? Is THAT ALSO B.S? I once called my father at 2 am and reversed the last two digits on a punch button telephone in 1994 or 1995. This was a telephone number of mine FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS. Go to Human Services and tell them that you think this is pure B.S. Human services is probably going to tell you that they CANNOT FIRE him because of his disability. YES, he is taking advantage of you, but you need to learn how to manage the situation better than telling him that HE DOES NOT have a disability. I sure would not want YOU as my boss if my blood sugar was 36 mg/dcl AND FALLING and YOU REFUSED to let me have some orange juice because, according to YOU, I have NOT been a type 1 diabetic for more than 56 years, I'm just faking it. (Normal blood sugar levels are 60 to 105 mg/dcl two hours after eating)

If his disability is documented, then this might be considered a reasonable accommodation. If this is taking away a lot of time from you doing your job, you should talk to your supervisor and find out if the work can be re-distributed among several people rather than just you.
