Does a Comedian need a work permit for Canada?

I am a US permanent resident and I have the option of a couple of gigs in Canada and wondered if I needed a Canadian work visa or not? They would be paid shows and I'd be there less than a week.

Thanks all.

Yes you still need a work permit - and your employer will have to apply for work pemrit.

He will have to show WHY he cannot get canadian comedians to do that spot!!

and the immigration dept can easily say NO if they think a Canadian comedian can do the job.

Comedians are NOT in demand in Canada so do not expect to get a work permit - or at least not easily.

It's not the type of work you do, it's the fact that you are working and do not have Canadian status to work. So you require a work permit.

Yes. Your employer needs to apply for your visa. Your agent or the club where you are appearing, etc, need to apply for a visa for an entertainer.
