The current situation is about the Federal Debt limit ceiling and not the budget.
When the government hits the ceiling they no longer have the ability to borrow.
I heard one pundit saying he thought failure to pass an increase by Aug 2 could drop the markets by 3%-5%.

EU just started shaking off the crisis and if the US goes down, all world markets will as well.
They (US government) will approve the elevated debt ceiling - i don't think they would allow us economy to go to gutters

Around the $12,000 mark... I really don't mess with the Dow anymore. Commodities like gold and silver are the way forward.
