Diy : Septum Piercing ?

Alright, so i've been wanting to pierce my septum FOREVER. i tried it once, but i couldn't get the ring in. & My mom is totally against facial piercings & the Septum is the easiest to hide. I have a regular sewing needle, a safety pin, 18g ring & a cup of ice. what else do i need to do? because my mom won't let me get a hollow needle, or anything like that. i have peroxide, and a lighter to steralize this stuff. helpp?D:

as a piercer, i need to tell you, septums are the easiest to totally screw up, they are the absolute least forgiving when it comes to crookedness, off by the slightest degree and you will be able to tell......not to mention you obviously dont know what all you need to pierce something properly, just forget about doing it yourself, you will screw it up, and you will regret it, sorry to be the one that tells you :)

If you insist on a DIY piercing don't use a sewing needle. Order a proper, sterile products (get them shipped to a friend's house if you must)

Sterile hollow needly in your choice of gage: http://www.crazy-factory.com/product_info.php?prod...

And get a sterilized piece of initial jewellery like from here: http://www.crazy-factory.com/product_listing_ng.ph...

I would suggest a straight barbell, since they are easy enough to hide in a septum and healing will be much easier with a bar than a ring (especially one that is not properly sterilized). I also suggest bioplast, and a longer one than you think you'll need, since you can trim it to accommodate downsizing after swelling.

Make sure you wear sterile gloves and use a sterile workspace. Be ready for blood, and research how to find your sweet spot so you know where to pierce and don't try going through cartilage.

Refer to http://bodypoetry.co.uk/nose.aspx for aftercare guides and be extra careful.

Why you think your mother is going to be more tolerant of your piercing your septum yourself with a sewing needle or safety pin than getting it done by a professional is beyond me. Do yourself a favor and get it done professionally when your mother permits it.

  • Doing a septum piercing yourself is dangerous because of the high risk of infection. If you must get one please get it done professionally! Ask a friend to go with you or something. Even though you shouldn't hide it, its safer to get it done instead of doing it yourself. :)
