What war film is this?

I only saw parts of it though but this is what I could remember.

There are 5 (or 6) guys holed up in a building in the middle of a desert nearly empty on ammo but have water. On the other side are Germans trying to kill them because of a "supposed" watering hole in the building that the guys are in. Towards the end only 2 live and capture a tank, guns and prisoners while getting found by friendly soldiers in a jeep.

Cheers

    Sahara (1943) -- maybe?

starring Humphrey Bogart, Bruce Bennett, J. Carrol Naish, Lloyd Bridges, Rex Ingram, Richard Nugent, Dan Duryea

    IMDb synopsis:

Filmed during World War II, this film was intended to be a propaganda piece for the U.S. government. Sgt. Joe Gunn (Bogart) leads an abandoned tank unit after the fall of Tobruk in North Africa. The tanks pick up British, French, South African, and Sudanese soldiers along the way, becoming a microcosm of the Allied troops. The group works together to defeat a much larger German force that wants the same water well that they have.

Note: There was a made-for-TV remake in 1995 by the same title.
