RE: ninebadthings, do you find it ironic?

A recent question asked about how long or far to ride. ninebadthings reply was, "Personally I ride for pleasure after 6 hours the pleasure is over and I'm in grind mode. So about 300 miles or less a day is how far I plan to ride if it is supposed to be a fun trip."

ninebadthings almost always bashes a non-sport bike, HD in particular but any make if it's a cruiser. Do you find it ironic that he brags up sport bikes and says he rides for pleasure, but loves bikes that apparently get very uncomfortable after 300 miles? There's plenty of cruisers, HDs and other non-sport bikes out there that capable of being comfortable way past 300 miles. I'd love to have the opportunity to let ninebadthings ride 300+ miles on a slow poke dresser like my old Kaw and see how good he still feels compared to a sport bike.

Update:

Additional: Interesting answers so far. I too believe in "to each his own", although ninebadthings doesn't subscribe to that philosophy. Here's the point I'm trying to make; my first big bike was a '75 Honda CB750F Super Sport, a true sport bike in its day. I rode it to California and back and a 500 mile day was a real killer, even for a young guy like I was. I then went to a '80 Kaw KZ1000 shaft drive (still got it). Soft springs, drive shaft, wallowed in tight corners, but I could ride 600 miles a day and be less fatigued than the 750. My 6 cylinder Kaw Voyager is an overweight land barge and I'm much, much older, but I can ride 600 miles and not have an ache anywhere. My point? If you like sport bikes, good for you. If you like cruisers, good for you. But if you're going to rag on any bike that isn't a high powered sport bike, you better be man enough to keep up with the other guys. Remember the fairy tale about the tortoise and the hare?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS THIS QUESTION!!!.

I SO DEARLY WISH...that someone would BAN him for this site, not only that, but ban his IP address so he can't come under other names.

I am an official memeber of the Iron Butt Association, I have officially documented 1127 miles in ONE DAY on a Harley, 20 straight hours at 90-110mph....ON A HARLEY!!!

My first cross-country trip was on an 86 Softail, Philly to San Diego.....4 days!!!

Up unti I moved recently, my main ride was a 99 Bueel X1....SPORTBIKE....I have done 700+miles an that bike in one day with speeds averaging 85-100 mph.....yes it did beat me up and was severly fatigued and slept for 10 straight hours that night, but I did it, enjoyed and didn't complain.

Ninebadteeth is nothing but an anti-cruise of any kind, especially HD....PU$$lE...that thinks the ONLY thing about motorcycles is the ability to 185+mph....PERIOD.

He also does not understand the difference between TORQUE monster bikes and horsepower, max top speed bikes.

    What a DIP-$hlT!!!!

Source(s): Master Tech and Engine Builder.....My 99 Buell X1 with 130+ ft/lbs of torque will SMOKE whatever he has in the 1/4 mile.....9.2 second 1/4 mile and clocked on I-10 between Phoenx and Tucson at 158mph. He might take me on top end speed, but that's it!!!!

When I ride my Harley, at 300 miles I'm just getting started. A 600 or 700 mile day is totally achievable and a "fun trip". Do this for a couple of days in a row and you have an exceptional trip. If you can only go 300 miles on a ride, you've got the wrong bike, or you should leave the bike at home and take your cage.

I rode a Triumph Bonneville from NC to CO. It took me three and a half days. I averaged 600 miles a day. Had a great ride at the end of the day I was tired but woke up the next day ready to roll. Mindset is the big key, and what you're used to riding. I rode with my girl on the back we spent 6 hours touring the back roads and wandering thru the hills. She never once whined about being sore or tired. I've often wondered how comfortable the passenger is on a sport bike but then they ain't made for two-up riding. Ever since I was a child I've always wondered why we can't recognize our differences and just get along.

Good ?-great answers.Bashing people for what they ride on the road goes against everything I was ever taught about the open road.It is supposed to be somewhat of a brotherhood when it comes down to our bikes.Yeah some don't like sportbikes and some don't like cruisers-so what, isn't the point of it all to get the wind flowin through your hair?I have owned harley's and big yamaha cruisers, they fit into my riding platform very nicely however I just simply enjoy the acceleration I get from my sportbike.I ride it as far and as fast as I like-not to pee anyone off or please anyone but myself. As far as I'm concerned, don't group 9bad with us serious sportbike owners-c'mon..300 miles in 6 hrs=50mph that is a REAL ROUGH ride.lol..Heck on a good saturday when we go out and thrash the backroads,I have put on 400+ miles in less than 4 hrs,and then we come back and re live the whole thing over again..So we all know the guy is MR. Fullapoopa and we should just write his posts off as a good laugh and consider the source...Kawboy,if you see him on the road send him my way,I'll try to teach him some respect or really teach him how to ride so he can back up the alligator mouth to the hummingbird butt.

Cruiser Motorcycles are made for just that cruising 600 miles a day not 6 hours. I personally could not imagine riding a sport bike 300 miles. To each his own.

Actually,I don`t find this all that ironic. When I first got somewhat active on answers I noticed some evil-spirited Harley bashing. Not just good natured banter but really coward like insults from someone hiding behind a keyboard.I would never expect anything impressive or honorable from such a troll.

I wonder what his problem really is,and I sometimes wonder if Bluto B is the same person.

I don't know guys. I'm tired of sitting in my nice comfy truck after 6 hours. I'm tired of an airplane seat in 2 hours. I kind of think 9 is stretching the truth in saying 6 hours on any bike is all that comfortable. Doable certainly, comfortable not so much. You may not like him but I think he is giving a new rider a realistic perspective instead of chest pounding and making silly claims. I don't even want to sit on a lazy boy for six hours straight. Get real people.

I put up with some things from those older than I.

I may be senile some day, too.

I'm not into zoom-splats OR rolling couches, yet have had both beside me.

To each his own, and 300 miles is a Sunday afternoon.

been riding nothin but rigid framed choppers all my life with all kinds of motors in them. Some of them from da U.S. of A. and some with inline 4 motors. My bikes are not so called cruisers and i have ridden all over this great land of ours on them.NO TRAILERS! Yea I would love to see that dude try my gixxer chop for a day or even my ol panhead. That ol pan can do 120 with no problem all day long! and even though they are chops they are comfortable to ride!

I'm not defending this ninebadthings character, but it's a good point that makes sense.

Define comfortable please? How can you because what's comfortable for one is no guarantee it's comfortable for another.

Going way past 300 miles being comfortable is absurd in anything to me. Is it still fun? Sure could be but fun doesn't define comfortable. Comfortable relative to an individuals arms, shoulders, and butt. Maybe including their attention span, experience level, practice at riding longer distances, and fatigue - mental or physical?

I don't find the response as ironic at all. It was his opinion and what's more ironic is how eager others can be to use something someone they don't approve of states to stick a dagger back in them when the fact is they feel that person was attacking them and their opinions in the first place?

Even worse is an opportunist who bellows in disgust then gloats with grandeous achievements that miss the whole point. It's about "comfort" not about male dominance and testosterone superiority. It's called Iron Butt for a reason and since it is I don't see comfort implied anywhere in that achievement or it would be called "Pillow Butt". So how could you honestly prove comfort anyway?

    Here's one honestly implied..... "Goldwing"
