Why is it so that in India, the women do not call their husbands by name.?

This can be either due to respect to the male or date old traditions. It is very rare in India that the ladies call the names of her husband.

India is a richly cultured place, where morals and traditions hold an important place. According to traditions, husband is equivalent to God (Swami) and hence in order to pay respect they don't call them by their names, esp. in public.

But thats an old story and nowdays, when love marriages are common, women do call their husbands by their names.
