Is it time for a "Coffee" Party?

We've seen the power of the "Tea Party" in hijacking the congressional agenda, I wonder if maybe the Liberal and Progressive among us would be served by a counterweight of sorts. A Democratic primary challenging group with a limited agenda of our own, to wit, litmus test every Democrat seeking election to make sure that he/she will oppose any bill that does not call for a substantial increase in taxes on the very wealthy, with a pledge that they will seek to raise taxes on this group at every opportunity.

Don't bother trying to dissuade me with arguments that raising taxes on the wealthy alone isn't sufficient to get us out of our financial/economic predicament. My intent isn't to save the economy, that ship sailed long ago. We're screwed and we might as well get used to it. All I want to do is punish the SOB's that have prospered by shafting the poor and the middle class for the last 30 or so years. While nothing short of hunting them down and exterminating them like the vermin they are would really satisfy me, realism suggests that the best I can hope for is hitting them where they live, in the pocketbook.

So, what do you think? Anyone else out there think we should tax the living crap out of the rich, and make the Democratic Party the single minded agent of that goal?

Taxing the cr&p out of anyone is no solution and no one can right the wrongs of the past by vengeance and hatred. Actually no matter how screwed the US of A might be, there is still the chance to set things right (not far right) and a fair & balanced approach can work.

The tax structure of the 1940s and 50s was whacked: the rich were paying as much as 60 to 70 %, though many dodged taxes by hiring clever lawyers and tax specialists.

The Clinton years saw the wealthiest paying 39 % on average and even with some dodging the full amount, still the nation prospered. Such an approach could work 'today.'

Punishment is not the answer a return to fairness is the answer.

Personally, yes we are screwed, but my gripe is when the LGB&T work hard, PAY TAXES, etc. why are they discriminated against when it comes to legal marriage & ALL rights of "Life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness"? Hang these damn religious nuts who think we should all follow them & have their beliefs shoved down our throats & like it! They are nuts & until we get rid of all these nuts from the people to the politicians who let "god" be their guide.....then we are all sunk! Would love to send them all of to an island to just rot away!

    Source(s): science & evolution rule......religion & god(s) suck!
