Clothing appropriate for USA winter?
What kind of clothing should I pack for going to United States in Nov/Dec/Jan?
For my husband, mainly, mens clothing. Long coats? a hat? how cold is it?
Itinerary.
Early November - Los Angeles, Simi Valley, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland
Mid November - Eugene, Portland, Seattle
Late November - Few days in Anchorage Alaska
Early December - Seattle, Chicago, Syracuse, Boston
Mid December - Manchester New Hampshire, New York City
Late December - New York City, Washington DC
Early January - Miami, New Orleans
Mid January - Austin, Albuquerque, Flagstaff,
Late January - Las Vegas, Los Angeles
END.
I would appreciate any advice on what people wear outdoors and indoors in these months. We are a couple from sunny Australia where the winters are mild and we get 320 days of sun a year.!

Early November - Your trip to California will feel a lot like your home in Australia. Always sunny but slightly chilly. Beautiful weather. Pack shorts, tank tops, light jacket, short sleeve shirts, sunglasses, summer clothing basically.
Mid November - Winters in these places are normally mild but moist, so a light jacket is very key for these three cities. You will seriously need a umbrella, btw.
Late November - Winter in Anchorage means you will freeze your a** off. It will definitely be time to break out the big heavy coats, hats, sweaters, sweatshirts, thermals, long sleeve shirts, scarves, gloves, etc. Multiple layers may be needed.
Early December, Mid December, & Late December - You will mostly be in the northeast (with the exception of Seattle and Chicago), which means you will freeze your a** off. (You will also freeze your a** off in Chicago). If you're lucky, you'll probably even see snow at this time! Your attire for the month of December will be the same as what you wore in Anchorage.
Early January - Reaching MIA and NOLA will be a relief for you. The weather will be warm, and very Mediterranean-like. Very comfortable weather. Shorts, tanks, light jacket, short sleeve shorts, jeans, basically what you wore in California.
Mid January & Late January - Wear what you wore in California. These places are very warm in the winter and much like what you experience in Australia during the winter.
I hope you and your husband have fun on your trip :)

considering you just said your from 'sunny australia', i'm guessing you arent accustomed to COLD WEATHER. i'll only tell you about the places that i've visited in and hopefully someone else can help you out with the others.
Los Angeles will most likely be chilly or cold, the weather changes alot there whenever i visit my family. San Francisco seems to be ALOT more chillier to me & i'm SURE it will be cold (dont think it snows in november) in early november.
Eugene, Portland, Seattle will be pretty freezing by then. I currently live in Seattle right now so I can tell you that if your not used to the cold and RAINY weather, i'd bring COATS and very warm clothing. I'm originally from Texas where the weather is 100 degrees so you can imagine how I felt about the cold weather. also seattle is along the coast so to me its colder there vs when your more towards in land and it will be raining alot most likely.
Anchorage, i've never been but warm clothing FORSURE.
Seattle again in early december, STILL COLD & possibility of snow but most likely not yet. i dont know about chicago, syracuse, & boston but chicago is known as the WINDY CITY & my bff has been to boston in december and she was bundled up like crazy.
New York City in december is cold as well but i dont find it to be AS cold as seattle. Its cold bc you're in between buildings where the sun doesnt shine. spent new years eve 2010 in NYC in times square and it was FREEZING to me lol
DC, MIAMI, NEW ORLEANS, ALBUQUERQUE, FLAGSTAFF, LAS VEGAS: i have no idea about
Also not too sure about Austin but i'm from Houston which is like 5 hours away so if it helps it MAY be chilly there still too but definetly not as cold as the upper states.
HOPE I HELPED!!!
