Question for Muslims...?

I am a Protestant Christian. I began reading the Quran and I am finding some difficulty with the way you see Jesus.

The Quran tells us that God is beyond having a son. Why then would God himself call Jesus his son?

Matthew 3:16-17

16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Matthew 8:28-29

28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[a] two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”

Matthew 16:16-17

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

Galatians 1:6-10

No Other Gospel (from the apostle Paul)

6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 BUT EVEN IF WE OR AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN SHOULD PREACH ANOTHER GOSPEL OTHER THAN THE ONE WE PREACHED TO YOU, LET THEM BE UNDER GOD'S CURSE! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

I understand that Muhammed believed it was Gabriel that told him that the book was corrupted. In what way was it corrupted? (Maybe I just haven't gotten that far).

Update:

P.S.- This is not intended as a battle or to insult anyone. It is simply a question and I want to know what they think.

    The quran tells us this;

In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.

112:1 Say: He is God, the One,

    112:2 God, the Indivisible,

112:3 He does not beget, nor was He begotten,

112:4 And there is none who is His equal.

The problem with all religions are that we have no evidence of what happened in the past. So we mostly rely on our faith. However, I believe as long as you believe in one God and follow your scriptures as best as you can you are on the safe side. With all due respect even thogh we believe that the bible has been altered in the past I believe that God is all about forgiveness and today's Christiansa are not to blame for what people did to the bible in the past. The quran als mentioned that God created different religion and that we should live doing good works. (I'll get you the exact surah in a sec.)

For each we have appointed a divine law and traced out the way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you He made you as ye are. So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and will then inform you of that wherein ye differ. -- 5:48

    I know it's just a question and it's a good one too :-))

I would say (from a logic standpoint, not coming from a religious education) that God didn't literally mean that he was the father of Jesus. He wasn't calling Jesus His son to tell the world that this man share half his DNA with God.

Referring to Jesus as a son would have had great cultural significance later on. Your eldest son was your legacy, your entire life's work passed on. To tell the world that Jesus was His son was to provide the world with an absolute description of His love for Jesus. This gave greater meaning to the crucifixion, when God allowed His son to die for the rest of us. It wasn't a literal proclamation of parentage, it was a declaration of his love for all of his creations.

Muslims don't believe that the bible is completely correct so you can really quote the bible as proof. the Quran says that god cant have a son.

The Bible is corrupted. People changed it for their own benefit.

God never called Jesus His son, only His prophet.

You're asking people of a different religion to reconcile differences between your religion and theirs?

Obviously, yours is wrong, theirs is right.

They'll tell you the bible's been corrupted - and at least here they make a very good case.

Using the Bible against a Muslim is just as useless as using the Koran against a Christian.
