Will Anything be as big as Harry Potter again?

I think so. LOTR was just as big, and I hear they are making another poular book series into a movie, The Dragon Reborn. Hopefully that would be just as good, it is the same category as Harry Potter.

I doubt that anything will be quite as big as Harry Potter. But then again, I might have said that about Star Wars when it came out. So, yes, we may not see a Harry Potter but we will have something uniquely big.

There have been others, perhaps seemingly not quite as large, but you'll be surprised, it's easy to forget. Jaws and Star Wars were monster-sized, they defined the use of the word blockbuster for films. Star Wars still is, and it is over 30 years since the first. The thing about Harry is how it affected adults AND children - that is what makes it so particularly unique. And just by nature of how it unfolded - these movies could not have been spread out over 20 years, ten years was almost too long for the audience that barely breathed waiting for the next film.

The following films were hugely popular books that became big films and affected popular culture. Gone With the Wind, perhaps the biggest of them all, The Godfather, Jaws, The Exorcist, The James Bond series, still going strong since the 1960s, the Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Silence of the Lambs, Jurassic Park, Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood, Forrest Gump, Lord of the Rings (finally), Twilight saga. And there's one, much as I hate to admit it because it was so very sappy, Love Story. All these films had huge popularity as books, and the films were giant successes that carried through into society, we still talk about them these days.

Edit: @GT, HP was not a trilogy it was a book/film combo. And, Rowling has said she's done and while pushed and probed for one more book, I doubt she will go there. HP was inspired, and well, let's say perhaps she does write another. The expectation of what she publishes will be enormous, and what if it doesn't live up to our expectations. Personally, I think she would be better of to leave it be, at least for a few more years until the dust settles completely down.

I think there will be some films which will be as big as Harry Potter, yes. Even though I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan... I do believe that with all the technology and advanced computers will help films and shows look a lot more realistic and effective. Which leads to big success.

HOWEVER, nothing will ever, and I repeat EVER, be like Harry Potter. Harry Potter is the kind of film/book/triology that is so original it won't be forgotten. You never know, JK Rowling might write another book based on Harry's children.

Twilight and The Hunger Games will never come close to what Harry Potter has.

You grow up with the Harry Potter characters, they became a generation of children's childhood.

Meyer's writing is elementary compared to Rowling. All eight of the Harry Potter movies have been on the to grossing films list. There is no way anything will be able to top Harry Potter. Especially in the fan's hearts.

Sure I mean Twilight pretty much is doing just that. Plus the Star Wars series did that back in the 1970s, all three were top 10 blockbusters until the late 1990's. So chances are it will happen again.
