Minecraft help: can someone tell me what this material is?
I was at the bottom of a cave, and one block before i got to the lava i found this stuff (the black cube)
i just started playing tonight, and i looked extensively on google but all i could find thats black is gunpowder, coal, and flint. but this stuff is liquid, so i thought it might be oil, but its not on the minecraft wiki so idk. tell me what it is and how to mine it! haha

Referred as obsidian. You can only mine it with a diamond pick. It will take forever still. But the rock is completely indestructible. You can make obsidian by dumping a bucket of water not onto but next to lava. This will make obsidian. Look up YouTube on how to if not getting it. Google Minecraft wiki for future questions as this website will answer it for you.
