  • Can you help me with a semi-advanced PHP form?

I know form basics, but say I wanted the contents of one drop down dependent on what the user selects in the drop down above it.

:Lets say we're talking about car makes and models.

I want the contents of the first drop down, "Make", to have Ford and Toyota as the 2 options.

Now, for the second one, "Model", I want the contents to be different depending on what the user selected. If they selected Ford, i want the second drop down to have selections like Taurus, Escort, and Explorer. Likewise, if they select Toyota, I want the second to have selections like Camry, Corolla, and Highlander.

What would be the easiest way to go about this? If it would take too long to explain, could you point me to a web page that explains it in detail? I have searched but i dont know any of the terms that go along with the settings i have described. Thanks, best answer to whoever helps me get the job done!

  • What processor/mb/graphics card should I choose?

I am going to be building my first rig soon, and I need an explanation on what setup to choose.

I am going into computer science in college, and I also play quite a bit of video games as well as stream high def video files, and I want to be able to use my non-cpu-integrated graphics card to enhance video game performance. I've been doing research on p67 and h67 motherboards, but I'm still confused about how it works. I don't really have a need to overclock, so I was leaning towards h67, but I am not sure if the h67 allows for a standalone graphics card in video games and video playing. If I get the h67 mb, can the video card still be used in conjunction with an i72600 not unlocked? I want to get the best out of my fps but dont want to shell out the extra hundred for an unlocked cpu and p67 mb if the h67 is capable of this.

thanks. also, if you have found any good deals on graphics cards like the gtx 560 i would be grateful for a link.

  • How to get my wireless adapter working on Linux?

I just installed ubuntu on my old laptop, which had a usb wireless adapter connected to it when it was installed with windows xp. When I got linux, everything was wiped from the computer, including the driver for the wireless card.

I have googled trying to find what to do to get my Netgear WNA1100 adapter to work on linux, and I have come to the conclusion that I needed a driver called ath9k_htc, which i downloaded and installed on the computer. Now I don't have the slightest idea what to do to get it working with my actual physical usb adapter. it is detected by linux, but that is the extent of its operation so far...it will not connect to a network, i dont know how to get it to connect to a network, I don't even know much about linux at all, so if you have some advice you could give me I would be grateful

    Thank you for your time.

  • What did you think of the movie Mulholland Drive?

I just watched it and it really ticked me off.

I feel like I sat through half of it thinking it was a little obscure but really interesting, with great acting and directing. It definitely has its own style and general foreboding air, and then the second half just made me feel like I was being flushed down a toilet. I'm sure thats what David Lynch wanted us to feel, but at the same time I feel like I just wasted a perfectly good 2 1/2 hours of my life. I'm vaguely familiar with his style, I've seen lost highway before, and it was similar, but the ending seemed a little more meaningful, but equally consternating.

I'm sure you don't really care what I think, and what I really want to know is what you think, so give me your Roger Ebert on this movie.

  • What kind of spider is this?

    http://i52.tinypic.com/dnfrs5.jpg

My uncle and I were cleaning the pool filters today and he lifted the bucket out and I saw this beast on the side, and told him to drop the bucket. at first I thought it was a tarantula, but then i thought that it wasnt because it wasnt big enough or hairy enough, even though it was both of those things.

If youre good with spider identification i would really appreciate a gander at this pic, thanks for the help!

I just asked this question, but didnt get any answers within the first 10 mins, which is usually a bad sign so i reposted

  • can someone help me figure out this math equation for trig?

I just need help on a small part dealing with dividing fractions with square roots.

im using my math lab, which is helping me learn how to do it but it doesnt explain this step very well and their answer is different than mine.

    the equation is sqrt(3)/2 = (15/2)/x

what i did was cross multiply to get 2sqrt(3)/30, then reduced to sqrt(3)/15.

it says the real answer is 5sqrt(3)

i want to know how they got that answer.

    thanks alot in advance.

  • should the word everybodys have an apostrophe?

In the sentence Everybodys heard about the bird.

its a contraction on 'everybody has'

it does not denote ownership, such as everybody's dog

  • What can we do to continue our race into the unforseen future?

    Pink Floyd said

"Long youll live, and high youll fly,

and smiles youll give and tears youll cry.

And all you touch, and all you see is all your life will ever be."

I find that that kind of sums up who we are as sentient beings. The thing with our brains is, we are conditioned on a daily basis by ourselves and the people and things around us to be the kind of person we want to be, and most often that means being the kind of person others want us to be. Don't break any laws, be a good citizen, pay your taxes, etc. Maximize pleasure, minimize pain. Pain being getting in trouble by the law or your peers, or even being disgusted with yourself, or your conscience. But who is one person to say what is right and wrong, based on their own logic, generated from completely different circumstances than another's? Take gun ownership as an example. People in Norway are not allowed to own firearms. Someone may have owtlawed guns, because of something gun related that happened them, someone in their lives, or a stories they may have heard about guns, leading them to believe that gun ownership is something to be controlled. While someone else, who may have depended on a gun their whole lives to eat or protect themselves, may feel very differently. Who is to say one person's views are right and the other person's are wrong?

What makes who we are is nothing more than the bubble that is our thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Some people are "smarter" than others, due to physical strengths and shortcomings.

However different we are, we are all human, and all part of that endless mass of peers that is overtaking the world exponentially. If the earth is like a cell, then we are like a cancer, growing to cover the surface, polluting it and rapidly making it become worthless to us and other living things. This is an undeniable fact. In the very near future (relative to the age of the universe) we will run out of life sustaining resources. What will we do after that? Move to another planet, die out like the dinosaurs, or Captain Trips in Stephen King's The Stand? Will the higher powers kill us off with some chemical super-agent, in order to secure their own future? I don't put much stock in it, but i certainly don't rule it out.

I think that if we have any chance at perpetuating life whatsoever, it is in math and science, and "death". We are coming far in the field of quantum mechanics and particle physics, so far in fact that its not inconceivable that we may be able to save our race before its too late. We are on a precipice, and until we can eliminate inefficiency, we will continue to march toward the ledge, toward the unknown. But the unknown can be known if we educate ourselves, as we've educated ourselves on everything else for so many centuries, about the physical aspect of life and death. I'll stop here because I'm rambling.

    Thoughts?

  • cpu at 100% from startup on?

Ok, so my computer has been running really slow recently. I'm decently computer savvy, and i know how processes work and i can see cpu and memory usage, but none of it looks very out of the ordinary, save a few redundant chrome.exe processes. But that has always been that way, so I take that to be normal too. As I said, my laptop (pretty new compaq with intel celeron 900 @220 ghz) is constantly maxing out its cpu usage but the task manager window doesnt show any processes hogging it. I'm thinking that its spyware or a virus, so I ran spybot, crapcleaner, and avast antivirus, and the only thing i found was alot of pups in spybot, which i immunized, and still i have this same problem. I dont want to do a system restore, because Ive recently made a few websites that i want to keep saved and a few other programs and stuff.

i torrent alot, but i always make sure to read the comments and make sure they are safe for download. another thing that might be the cause is i just have about 10% memory left in my c drive, but its not yet in the red and therefore I dont think that could cause such a malfunction. I am at a loss, and if i dont get an answer that works it looks like im going to have to save all my files i want kept to the internet (i dont have an external hd or anything) and slooowly download them again later. so please help me if you can, and also please check this question again once youve answered, because i will provide additional details in relation to your answer, and you can edit your answer accordingly, so as to progress the situation and thus (hopefully) solve the problem.

  • Question about religion on yahoo?

So I've noticed that there are alot more athiests in the religion section of Answers than people who believe in a religion. Any ideas as to why this might be? Do you have nothing better to do than to sit around and discuss why you think or *know* youre right, and everyone else who believes in a higher power is *wrong?* I mean, it is, after all, the religion section; something to which you guys obviously have no real affinity towards. How low that must make you feel, eh?

Or maybe not, because all the other people just like you thumb up each others answers and thumb down all the semi-religious answers, even if they are more guiding and complete than your own answers, which really boil down to "there is no god" and "christians are idiots." So who are the real idiots here? If someone has a *real* question about religion; perhaps theyre going through a rough time or are interested in learning what religion has to offer, im sure they dont want to hear your demeaning and too often shallow statements. Most of you probably even have best answers of less than 3%. I know this question isnt going to do anything about it, except perhaps make you reflect on why you do what you do.

I just want to hear you guys try to come up with an explanation as to why you act so blatantly narrow minded. Is it cultural? were you raised by athiests? surrounded by them your whole life? or is it acquired through a lifetime of deep thought?

tell me truthfully, ill give best answer to the person who explains the most completely and doesnt give me the same monotonous answer that they give everyone else. i am completely unbiased.

    thank you for your time.

  • Why must you hurt me, when I love you so?

When I can do nothing else nor want to, for love made me and fed me and kept me in better days? Why will you cut me, and disfigure my face, and fill me with woe?

I have only loved you for your beauty as you once loved me for mine in the days before the world moved on.

Now you scar me with nails and put burning drops of quicksilver in my nose; you have set the animals on me, so you have, and they have eaten of my softest parts.

Around me the can-toi gather and there's no peace from their laughter.

Yet still I love you and would serve you and even bring the magic again, if you would allow me, for that is how my heart was cast when I rose from the Prim.

And once I was strong as well as beautiful, but now my strength is almost gone.

If the torture were to stop now, I might still recover - if never my looks, then at least my strength - and my kes.

But another week... or maybe five days... or even three... and it will be too late.

Even if the torture stops, I'll die.

And you'll die too, for when love leaves the world, all hearts are still.

Tell them of my love and tell them of my pain and tell them of my hope, which still lives.

For this is all I have and all I am and all I ask.

  • How many sillybobs can your snorkel sustain in one sitting?

mine can only go 7 and a half. i only count the half though because the bob fell off of one of the sillybobs.

Also, for the sillybob scoop i used a turtle-shaped billywhopper so that gave me an advantage as far as the ratio of sillybobs per scoop. I've tried masking tape to counteract the static buildup, but that stuff is useless for everything, i dont even know what i was thinking. anyway, if you have any tips for me i would sure appreciate it. I would like to see one of my sillybobs take the top seed on this years sillybracket!

  • How many sillybobs can your snorkel sustain in one sitting?

I'm trying to make sense of the sillybobbing steps, but i get confused when my second sillybob gets stuck on the side of the snorkel. My stepsister seems to surpass me with her sillybob stuffing speed, to the point that hers sometimes become self sustaining. Any suggestions?

    Sincerely,
