Wells Fargo Banker fraud with my personal info!!! help!?
I rec'd a call from a local branch asking if I wanted to upgrade my basic account *checking/savings*. The one I had was in good standing but a few restrictions such as no atm deposits. So I'm exptecting a new debit card in the mail and a "packet" with unknown documents. It's three weeks past and still nothing but two new debit cards. I was sort of confused. I log online and i see two additional accounts *I never signed up or knew about the new accounts* I review my balance of negative $15.00 which was odd because I never used the account in any way, shape or form. I open my transaction history to see a -$300.00 check deposit, reverse $300.00 check and a $35 nonsufficient funds fee. WTF!!!!! Not only was it crazy amounts but the scanned check wasn't payable to me. It was an odd foreign name with "love" written on the memo line. I called and filed a fraud complaint. The next day I log online and there was a $20 withdrawl from my savings from one day ago and I never went to the bank that day. I NEVER pull out just a twenty and if I did that wouldn't be from my savings. The strange thing is that I didn't even have the funds in my account to do this and it magically appeared. It was also withdrawn at my local branch down the street. The account activity is fishy and I don't know what to do. They all have a hold until I get it straightened out and I plan on visiting a reputable wells fargo near work. I called customer service and they tried to help and mentioned to call the executive offices so that they could take further action. What are my legal rights and what can I do to be safe? I dont feel comfortable knowing someone has my personal information including my ssn, address, name, work info, etc HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

I give you one hint.... Wells Fargo does not call you out of the blue to upgrade your bank accounts and would never ask you for sensitive personal information over the phone because..... they already have it on file anyway.
You have given your personal banking information to a scam artist that had enough technical know how to use your info to sign up for two more accounts in your name. Debit cards have been issued alright... you got the main cards and another set has been sent to an authorized user which is now trying to empty the accounts before the bank realizes the mistake and shuts down the accounts.
Never open bank accounts over the phone... there is a reason why bankers have offices at the branches... it is there where you can do banking business face to face and with the right paperwork and proof of your identity.
Walk into the nearest Wells Fargo and have them straighten it out but do mention the phone calls you received so that Wells Fargo can warn their customers not to fall for such a scam in the future.

Go into the branch and speak with a VP, not a regular customer rep. If they refuse to help. Tell them you'll fire a complaint with the Banking Commissioner in your state as well as the Federal Trade Commission @ 1-877-382-4357 which all banks must answer to.

Your mistake is giving out all sorts of info to some scammer who called YOU and talked you into this account upgrade. LOL
Now you know. Banks don't call you to upgrade your account... Let me guess, this person asked for all your info too and you gave it willingly?
Never give out info on the phone to someone who solicits you. Go to your bank or wherever you are being solicited if you are interested and do things in person. That way, you know you aren't being ripped off.
Hopefully, your bank will side with you and you will get this straightened out.
