Pot Stickers are made with wonton wrappers, stuffed with chopped vegetables and meat if you eat meat. They are sealed with water and then either fried or steamed like dumplings.

Hush Puppies are small pieces of corn bread that are fried. How I make hushpuppies is to take 1 cup of corn meal, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and stir. Then I stir in one egg and enough water to make a stiff batter. Then I put the batter in a hushpuppy tray and use a pusher to push a slice of batter about 1" by 3" (the width of the tray) into hot deep fat. If you don't have a hushpuppy tray, you can use a small glass bowl and a large cooking spoon to form and push the hushpuppies into the hot grease. Or use a 2 tablespoon measuring spoon or ice cream scoop to form small balls and drop them into the hot grease. Nice additions to hushpuppies include minced onions, minced peppers, and/or corn. Some people put cracklin's in hushpuppies. Some people use 3/4 cup corn meal and 1/4 cup all-purpose flour.

Potstickers are Chinese in origin. They are a snack food or appetizer. Similar to a ravioli..you take a pc. of dough (about the size of your palm) and fill it with ingredients that make a "filling". Most potsticker filling consists of: Some type of ground meat (pork is most popular), green onions, finely shredded cabbage or preserved turnip. There are many variations I'm sure. Once the "potstickers" are made, they are pan fried with a bit of oil. A bit of water under a tight fitting lid helps them steam a bit and then they get crispy on the bottom slightly sticking to the pan. Hence the nickname, "Potstickers". They are great just about anytime of the day. They are usually served with a small dish of dipping sauce consisting of: vinegar, chili paste and a little soy sauce. Or you could just eat them plain if you like.

Now, a "hush puppy" is pretty much just a ball of seasoned dough made usually made from cornmeal (not wheat flour). Legend has it that the cooks used to fry up these little pieces of dough for the dogs that were begging for a tasty morsel as they hung around the kitchen. As they threw them to the dogs there was probably a gentle scolding, "Hush puppy"! :) All I know is they are great as a side dish when you eat (American) Southern cooking or sometimes eaten with fried fish combinations.

I agree with the questions about how much oil you are using in your fry Daddy or any other pot. I know that hush puppies are a dough type thing but make sure you are not getting any water or anything like it in the oil. It is really not good for the oil, can cause flare ups, and makes your oil break down faster.

Pot stickers are an Asian food. A won ton wrap stuffed with some kind of meet or veg blend. Hush puppies are the BEST side dish for any kind of seafood. It a bread ball that has onions..sometimes they have bell peppers in them too, egg to hold everything together, a little milk. Shape the balls and drop them in you oil. Fry them to golden brown.

Hush puppies are deep fried corn meal balls, generally eaten with deep fried fish, along with chips/french fries and cole slaw (shredded cabbage and carrots in mayonnaise and some other ingredients). They are mostly a southern thing (southeast, not southwest).
