One full day for Vatican...there's lots to see there. The second day morning for the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain in the evening. The third day morning for the Forum and that evening for the Spanish Steps. The fourth day morning for the Pantheon and that evening for Piazza Navona. The fifth would be for any art museum that you have wanted to see and have missed out on. This site may be of some help: http://www.rome.info/itineraries/

Highlights
Apart from the vast numbers of lovely piazzas, Roman relics and gorgeous Rome churches you will want to see at least the mega-rich, independent state of the Vatican, its museums and the vast Basilica of St. Peters, the Colosseum amphitheater, the remains of the Roman Forum and its triumphal arches, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona with its fountains, artists and cafés, Campo dei Fiori open air food market and the bustling narrow streets of Trastevere for a real Roman night dining experience.
Museums and Galleries
The Vatican Museums (Musei Vaticani) has perhaps the richest collection of art in the world. It include Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel and Raphael's four fresco rooms as well as the best of Roman, Etruscan, Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian and modern religious art, but are always crowded and a long line may be anticipated to get in. The queue for tickets is likely to be long but there is a way to jump the Vatican and Borghese Gallery lines. Log on at www.museumrome.com pay the fee and get a booking number . Deliver it at the ticket office in front of the queue and you're in. The other museums worth visiting: Capitoline Museums with wonderful Greek and Roman sculptures, Galleria Borghese with collection of sculptures and paintings, including Bernini's Apollo and Daphne. This museum also needs a reservation in advance to get in.
Have a nice holiday!

I'm from Rome .. I suggest you visit the city, especially in the center: Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the coliseum etc.
If you want do shopping and spend little, I suggest you Via Tuscolana, it's a long street of shops. To get there take the metro A, and get off a Numidio Quadrato ( The Via tuscolana is up Numidio Quadrato to Subaugusta)
Excuse my english!
