  • iPhone 4s using huge amounts of data WHEN NOTHING IS OPEN..?

I have had my iPhone 4s since October 2011. (Note, I have NOT downloaded the iOS6 as I like my google maps just fine.)

My data plan is 1G per month. Up until last October 2012 I had never even come close to my monthly allotted usage. However, last month I went WAY over. I downloaded 'My Data Manager' at the suggestion of my phone company (Telus Mobility Alberta) and I am seeing random huge data dumps.

For instance, since 2200 hrs last night I have only received 1 text message on my phone, all the applications were closed out (nothing running off-screen) and the phone was in the charger while I was in bed. I checked my data manager this morning and somehow I used 333 MB of data. WHILE I WAS ASLEEP AND NOT USING THE PHONE.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Or how to figure out just what this is?

  • What kind of telescope should I get for my fiance?

My fiance would like a telescope for Christmas but I have no idea what to get (neither does he though).

I'm looking to spend no more than $300 and would like something good for backyard gazing.

I would prefer not to have to order it online but examples online would be great so I know where to start.

Any recommendations or input would be appreciated.

I'm heading to Las Vegas in March with my mom and the primary reason is to shop for my wedding dress.

I can look online obviously (and have and will) but I would like to know if anyone knows of the best/biggest/nicest place(s) to go to?

I want to know ahead of time so I can make appointments.

Any help offered will be appreciated!

  • How should I "propose" to my bridesmaids? 4/5 live way out of town...?

I have 5 girls I would like to ask to be my bridesmaids, but only 1 of them lives in my city.

1 lives in Germany, 1 in another province and 2 of them are 3 hours away.

I was thinking about getting a notebook for each of them (tailored to their likes/personalities), putting a picture of us inside the front cover, then writing a page or 2 about some of our memories and how much I value their friendship. Then adding a poem asking them to be my bridesmaid.

I would have loved to "propose" to each of them with a ring pop and a box of cookies, but I don't want to do that just for the 1 that lives in my town and not for the others.

    What are your thoughts?

  • Where to stay in Hemel Hempstead, near the train station or somewhere else? We need to book soon!?

My fiance and I will be staying in Hemel Hempstead Sept 4-10 and taking the train to London most days.

Should we try to stay near the train station so "commuting" time is cut down or is there another area (with shops and cafes) that would be better (maybe bus to the train?)?

  • Where to stay in Rome for 5 nights in mid-September?

My fiance and I are headed to Rome via overnight train from Paris and we would like a hotel in a decent area.

We intend on walking as our primary mode of transport (transit from the station may be a requirement!).

We would like something near cafe's and as a bonus some shops.

We are willing to spend between 100-150 Euro a night ($100-$200 Canadian).

My fiance and I are going to Venice in September but just for 2 days. If you only had 2 days in Venice, what would YOU do/see?

  • Do I need a Mac mouse for my Macbook?

I have had a Macbook for 3 years and lately it has started killing mice. I have gone through 4 "laptop" (small-sized) mice in 4 months, they just stop working, though they are still getting power (the laser comes on when plugged in) and some of them still work on my fiance's PC laptop. Do I need a Mac-specific mouse? I hope not because they're too damn big & expensive.

    Thoughts?

  • What kind of car was Sarah driving in Chuck vs. the Wedding Planner?

It was the black sports car (very high end) that Sarah was driving while following the shuttle bus that Chuck was on with the wedding planner/scammer.

  • Why do only some of my house lights flicker?

I have a stand up lamp that has started flickering in the last 2 weeks. When I plug it into another outlet it works just fine. As well, when I plug my laptop cord into the same outlet (it doesn't seem to matter if it's top or bottom), the power only works about half the time.

This started about 2 weeks ago when a big snowstorm hit the area so I thought possibly that had something to do with it (snow & wind cause a lot of phone static & false calls during storms). But then the snow melted totally and it has still been flickering.

All the other outlets in the house seem to be fine, at least, all the lights are ok. Any thoughts before I drop $300 on an electrician?

  • How do I keep my tulips alive?

I got some potted tulips as a prize at a baby shower....and that was 2 weeks ago and I've already manage to start killing them! :-(

There's 2 mature flowers that were closed when I got it. They opened in a about 5 days and now seem to be dying (drying out and discolouring at the ends of the petals).

I watered them with room temp water when I first got them (cuz the soil was dry) and have watered every 6 days since.

They sit on my kitchen counter near a sunny window with blinds that are partway open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Travel to Istanbul by train from France/Germany/Rome?

My boyfriend and I are planning a European trip this September and though we haven't decided exactly where we'd like to go, we have some ideas.

One thought is land in London, stay a few days, then perhaps overland to France, maybe a stop in Germany after, even Rome. But I would really like to go back to Istanbul and wonder if there is a convenient way to get there by train (I've flown and it's frankly boring, plus with security and customs etc I think it might not be too much of a time difference).

Obviously we're open to various options regarding starting points, so what do you all think and do you have references (websites would be great)!?

  • Buy certified pre-owned or buy from any dealer & purchase warranty?

I am looking to buy an almost-new Lexus RX350 (2007-2009) in Canada.

I am not sure if I should buy from the Lexus dealership so I can get 'certified pre-owned' or if I should search other dealerships/private sales and then buy an extended warranty after the fact.

Any thoughts from those "in the know"?

  • Which rows at the Saddledome are closer to the ice?

I am going to be getting tickets for a hockey game and will be getting them in the 1st balcony (the 200's section) but I don't know which row will be closest to the ice. Normally I would presume the lower the number the closer to the ice but I can't find any diagrams that break down the rows and I want to be sure. Thanks!
