Buy certified pre-owned or buy from any dealer & purchase warranty?

I am looking to buy an almost-new Lexus RX350 (2007-2009) in Canada.

I am not sure if I should buy from the Lexus dealership so I can get 'certified pre-owned' or if I should search other dealerships/private sales and then buy an extended warranty after the fact.

Any thoughts from those "in the know"?

that is the ONLY WAY TO BUY USED. Certified preowned with a manufacturers warranty, lets face it, we all cannot get a new car every year, but there are many who can, and do and this is a great way to get a low miles one owner car with most of the factory warranty left, a dealer warranty from a private no name business is as worthless as dog do in a bucket. You miss the depriciation hit, if you find a dealer who listens to what you tell him you want, and he can find it as long as you are not too picky on paint and interior you can get some great deals, by patience, but being ready to buy when one comes up. About a third down up front, gives you some good financing options too.
