I need a very light weight string trimmer. Can you recommend one?
I am a 53 year old female who has not mowed the lawn myself in over 17 years. I have trouble starting mowers with the pull cord, so I purchased an electric start lawn mower and that works great. I need to purchase a light weight string trimmer that does not have a pull start. I would prefer to not have an electric because of the cord, however, all the reviews say electric has more power than battery operated. I own my own home, and have a small amount of trimming to do. I only need to trim along my drive and sidewalk, landscaped area and a fence line. All trimming should take approx 20 minutes to finish.
Anybody out there who has been in my situation and is happy with their purchase? I would appreciate your recommendation.

I bought a cordless trimmer with a 20 volt lithium battery. It has tons of power, goes through things I didn't expect it to, and it will go for about 40 minutes on one charge, usually cutting long grass and weeds. That's about as long as I care to do any weedeating for anyway. I'm no spring chicken any more either. It's not as light as smaller trimmers, but it's well balanced and has an adjustable handle on the pole part which makes it much more comfortable to use. I find it much much easier on my back than lighter and shorter corded trimmers I've had. Mine is a Yardworks but I'm in Canada and I think that's a Canadian brand.

Well if your looking for lightweight then those are your two choices. Electric or battery. I would recommend electric because its more reliable. After so many charges a battery will lose its life and you will be buying new batteries and sometimes you even have to replace the charger. I know you said you dont care for electric but that is probably your best option. I have seen people use a 100 ft. cord and use a hose reel when they are done to roll it back up easily. It actually works pretty good.

Yeah electric is good for a short distance, more cord used less power supplied though so use 100ft of cord or less. Good brand is craftsman or homelite.
