What is better...Sims 3 or Sims 2?
I just turned 16 and i have enough birthday money to buy sims 3 deluxe and to get generations at the same time...the only thing is, i dont know if it would be a good idea to purchase them. they are expensive and i dont know if its a waste of money. i have almost every expansion pack for sims 2 though. Is it worth while and cost effective to buy the 2 sims 3 games? or pass on those and keep sims 2...thanks!
I wanted to buy the deluxe version of the game because it included sims 3 aspirations so you can get more wants and jobs...its only like 5-10 bucks more for it too

I think it's worth while. I have almost every expansion for Sims 3 except for Generations. There are a lot of features in the Sims 3 that aren't found in the Sims 2. Like, for instance, in the Sims 3, you get to take your sim all over town. Also, if you get the ambitons expansion pack, you can play your sims while they're working. And for the sims 3, the downloads are much safer for your computer. But the thing with the Sims 3 is that you can't get abducted by aliens or turn into a which. So if you live for that type of thing, I wouldn't get the game. But, as of now, you can turn into a vampire. Oh, and, the sims look much more realistic, there are more hairstyles, clothing styles, funishings, wallpapers, etc. to choose from, and EVERYTHING is customisable, even the telephone. You could make everything in your sim's house hot pink if you wanted to. So personally, I like the sims 3.
EDIT- Also, there are some cheats to help you get by if you are struggeling in the game. You can find them on youtube.

I've had Sims 2 ever since it came out. When Sims 3 came out, I bought it eagerly. It's a great game, but it's very different from Sims 2. I became frustrated with it and switched back to Sims 2. I had to uninstall Sims 3 because my computer can't have both at the same time without constantly crashing. So I still use Sims 2. My friend, however, kept using Sims 3 and now loves it. She says it takes a while to get used to, but then it's a lot of fun.
If I were you, I'd make sure your computer can handle both Sims 2 and 3 first, and if it can, just buy Sims 3 Deluxe, then see if you like it. It's really a matter of opinion. If you do like it, go back and buy Generations, too.

The Sims 3 is definetly better, in my opinion. Better graphics, more things to do, and a lot more ways to customize your Sims. You get to really customize your Sim in new ways you never could before, theres so many more options in CAS. There's a lot more to do around town, and it's just WAY more fun.
I was really reluctant to start playing Sims 3, because it looked so complicated with the new way it was set up and everything, but now that I've been playing Sims 3 for a while, I can't imagine what it was even like playing Sims 2! It seems like it would be so boring!!
The expansion packs for Sims 3 are AMAZING!! Each one adds so much more options and just a lot more fun into the game. I'd reccomend Generations (that's my absolute favorite one! It has prom, pranks, dress up, everything in it and makes playing a kid & teen a lot more fun) or World Adventures (you can travel to Egypt, France or China!). Ambitions is really cool too!
So, yeah, if you think the Sims 2 is fun...you will have a BLAST with Sims 3!!!

I had sims 2 for like a year then the wonderful sims 3 came out and I bought it the day it released! Lol it's so much better, it's a lot more confusing at first, but then you get the hang of it and you have a ton of fun! And the add ons are way better than sims 2... I would suggest trying to find a used game or look on eBay as they are WAY cheaper then you can buy all the add ons! Which is better and gives to more to play with :)
Good luck, hope I helped!
Ps. Happy Birthday!!!!!!

SIMS 2! for the PC, too much happens in the Sims 3 and it can get quite overwhelming and becomes hard work if you are struggling in the game. I have played Sims 2 from the start quite a few times and I know all the characters and mess around more in the game. There is more freedom in Sims 2 for me as I am so use to it, I haven't quite figured out how to use the cheats for Sims 3 (Wii) yet, but once I do perhaps it will be more fun for me.

I suggest just buying the regular Sims 3 instead of the deluxe. Just get the first game, and see if you like it. If you do, then go buy Generations. And Happy Birthday! I personally like the Sims 2 better, but the Sims 3 is fun too.
Well get the deluxe version, but don't buy Generations until you're sure you like the Sims 3. And the like someone else said, make sure your computer can handle both of them. You don't want your computer to lag while in game.

I think The Sims 3 is better than The Sims 2. Graphic wise and everything else with it. I have The Sims 3 Late Night on my computer and thats good.
